I found this out from a book that I have. (LS1/LS6 PERFORMANCE)

The LS1's throttle-blade doesn't completely open to 90 degrees when the accelerator is mashed. You can see it when you take off the air intake tube and plastic radiator cover so you can be level with it. Push open the blade all the way and you'll see that it's still angled down a little.

All I did was use my Dremmel to grind down the throttle stop a little at a time untill the blade would open to be perfectly flat.

I can't really tell a difference in performance but hey...every little bit helps right? :D

Don't think this a stupid question, but you did block off the TB with something as you ground off the stop so the metal shavings/dust wouldn't get sucked into your intake right? ;)

You have to be somewhat careful not to grind too far...if the TPS voltage gets too high (somewhere around 4.7 volts but don't hold me to that) then it will set a trouble code.

On my A4 car, the throttle won't even open all the way to the stop, much less go beyond it. Even with the cable adjusted tight. I think the TCS is set up wrong and doesn't allow enough cable travel. But dealer says it meets spec.

Throttle Body By-pass. Look for the thread...I still need to post a pic of how it looks.

Yeah...that was the first thing I thought of when I looked at the opened-vulnerable TB. I wrapped a rag around the opening and put a rubberband around it. When I was done I used my shop vac to clean up all the shavings. ;)

I was checking mine yesterday and it seems to open all the way to 90 degree. I can't locate a stop on it. Are all the T/B's the same through out the 2004 year?

It should be the same. My build date is Oct 03.

If you look at the pic just above the blue spring...the freshly grinded metal on the left side of the TB. It's basically a bar or post that sticks out.
