Yep! Not much for over exaggerating my testosterone, but this guy had it coming. Im behind him at a light, the freeway entrance is about 1/16 of a mile ahead on the right and were both in the far left lane. He revvs. I revv back. It was on. Like a shot at about 2500 RPM I launch while he does the same, taking care not to rear end him in the process. He flies over 2 lanes to get on US 10 and I follow suit. Uphill acceleration ramp, but we were still a car length apart. We get out onto open freeway. He stays with me till the high 120's and then I start to pull away slowly, but surely, until he ran out of room to accelerate b/c there was traffic in the right lane. I promptly grabbed left hand lane as soon as we entered the freeway. What a rush to actually let off the gas at 140! Did some research. Apparently, his 0 - 60 is closer to a 2005 Grand Prix's, but worth the post.

Hey sickgoatlover,
I have a 2003 Z4 with the larger 3.0 motor and SMG trans. My 05 GTO will cream it in the 1/4 mile and 0-60. The published times for the 0-60 on the 3.0 are 5.9 secs, for the 2.5 Z4 6.9 secs.
I ran both my Z4 and my 05 A4 GTO at the same dragstrip.

Z4 9.4 77 MPH 1/8 mile. this is ~ a 14.4 1/4 mile

GTO 8.6 85 MPH. 1/8 mile. This is ~ a 13.3 - 13.4 1/4 mile.

The seats in my GTO are actually more comforatble than my Z4. Where the Z4 really shines is in it's smooth engine and flat torque band and really nice cornering.
Nice kill

No offense dude, but apparently it's not only flat, but pretty small too.

Yeah, but not bad for half the cubes.

I see your not impressed with the little BMW 3.0 (even thought I have raced some V-8 Mustangs and won.
How about my little 3.8 Buick V6 in my '86 Grand National. It makes my '05 GTO look slow.
11.80's in street trim and 3720 #'s with me in the driver seat.
The BMW 3.0 is without a doubt the smoothest engine I have ever felt. Unless you have driven one (just like the GTO critic's) you are missing out on an experience.
Also The GTO handles real nice compared to my '86 GN but feels like a tugboat in the corners compared to the Z4.
Quickness is relative there is always some one faster.

Well bigger cars feel like bigger cars, the Z4 and other small roadsters are always going to feel more nimble.

Well, there are some aspects of the BMW 3.0L engine that are impressive, I'll grant you that. The flatness of the torque curve being one of them. Unfortunately, due to the small size of that flat torque curve, the results seem a bit mediocre.

In some ways, that little 6 cylinder is a lot like I was as an offensive lineman. I had impeccable form. Unfortunately, I was only 5'9" and 210 lbs. So, the results were mediocre at best.

As for the turbo Buick - not my style, but much harder to insult than the beamer engine.
