: engine light came on
Zero4 04-13-2005, 12:45 PM Ok guys, yesterday I was heading to work and the engine light came on
so I checked the manual
it said new tires could cause the light, but the new tires are same size as the old tires
it said brand of gas, but I use the same brand from the same station every week
it said gas cap, checked it a few times, not it
so what could it be?
Nocturn 04-13-2005, 03:04 PM Take it a dealer and they can scan the code for you and find out. It could be a number of things.

UR DOOOMED! :hysterical:
thats it, I am putting a copyright on UR DOOMED
anyone know who I need to talk to in order to get this done?
I see too many people use it, its mine, mine I tell you, MINE!!!!!!!!
but anyway, I was driving home from work and the light shut off
I read in the manual about reducing speed and not driving so hard. So I guess I just needed to take it easy on the throttle
H2ONOW 04-14-2005, 02:30 PM Yep I agree

Good to hear that the light went off though.
Zero4 04-16-2005, 03:52 PM bad news
on the 12th the light came on after I got some gas
so today I filled the tank, was heading to work and the light came on again, same spot where it came on before
but this time the car wouldn't go more than 45mph, the light started to blink, the battery light came on and the car died
I couldn't get it to start. And some times it would start but die a few sec latter
Eventually it started but the light is on and it don't seem to be running right
What the f*** is going on?????????
I will be taking it to the dealer
mldavis 04-16-2005, 06:01 PM There are DOZENS of sensors all feeding info into that computer about 60 times/second. Any "out of bounds" reading from any sensor will light the amber bulb so there is no way to tell what is wrong. I doubt the fuel is the reason. Something has failed and the computer is programmed to run in a rich backup mode so you can get it to the dealer. Almost all causes of a check engine light are emissions related, hence fully covered under warranty, since (technically) the function of the computer and sensors is to maintain emissions control. If you're doing any heavy racing, you could have an oxygen sensor failure in one or both exhaust pipes, or if you have ground the throttle sensor stop, it might be too far and letting the throttle exceed voltage ranges.
Zero4 04-19-2005, 12:12 PM good news
turns out all it was is an electrical short that ran to the PCM
so when the car would heat up there would be a short and the fuel would get cut off, thats why it died
the part will be hear wednesday, and won't cost me a thing
