I am looking at some mickey thompson drag radials because i have read reports that they are better than even drag slicks. I want to know which size is most efficient for my gto. Right now i am going with 275 40 r 17

Well be aware that switching to a larger diameter tire will effect your acceleration, so the best thing to do is to get the same heigth tire, but wider. With slicks you don't need alot of tire as the surface is much greater.

I doubt that.

But I agree with Nocturn.

Well Drag Radials will never hook like Slicks, but you can get away with some cheater slicks...I used some ET streets that you could use for city use (non highway) that were slicks with 3 1mm lines in them. Hooked like slicks also. Took my normal tires till 4th to hook, with those I could downshift into 1st and not spin...and THAT is saying something for that car.

I put MT ET Drag Radials on my Grand National. My prior best 60' was 1.95. With the MT ET DR's I pulled back to back 1.587's after heating them good. They stick like glue, but wear fast. Mine are all but shot @ 800 miles.

Go with the MT radials, our cars are too heavy for bias ply ET Streets according to MT. My friend Brent got a 1.56 60' with his STS GTO Tuesday night on the ET radials. He's running the 275-40-17s on Bogart racing wheels, and some light fender rolling. If you don't want to modify your fenders, go with the 255-50-16 and get a pair of 16" wheels, or a pair of Holden Pursuit rims with the 235-50-15. Just don't try to drive with them in the rain.....

I think I paid about $136.00 each for them from JEGS.
