So, I'm driving and I'm hearing this metallic tapping from the engine, sounds almost like I have low oil, but the oil light aint on. This goes on, intermitently for a few days, I decide to take it to Pontiac. They go over the whole car, can't find anything wrong, they even take off the skid plate, no oil drips or runs, nothing... so... the decide on a whim, to check the oil level... :jumpon:
No oil on the stick.
:jumpon:
I say, come again?
The mechanic proceeds to put on, if you can believe it, 4 F*CKING quarts of Mobil 1!! :jumpon:
They put a service order in to show that the car was not burning oil, there weren't any drips, and they state that they checked the oil level before I got the car and it was perfect. So, the mystery of the 4 quarts begins. I have an appointment next Wednesday for them to check the level, and if it's low again, then it's disappearing somehow, burning off and we're not seeing it, so now the fun begins. I'm going to send an email to whoever the Pontiac Northeast regional manager is explaining everything, and I'm going to slyly and politely demand a new engine, because lord knows what kind of wear there is on the engine. I have 2500 miles on the car, and it's the most critical time to have the right amount of oil.
I keep thinking of all the shavings and such that get caught up in the oil prior to the first change, and them just trashing the motor because there is in fact, NO OIL.
