: Sewell: Q about ordering

I am an American expat living in the UK. I am moving back to the US on July 8th and my first week back will consist of looking for a new car. I have my eye set on a 2005 GTO, and unless a test drive ruins it for me, am pretty sure I will be getting this car.

My preference is going to be to buy one locally as it will be easier to walk in, find one, haggle a little on the price and hopefully drive away the same day.

However, seeing that I might not be able to find a local dealer with the color and options I want, I may end up getting one from a dealer like yourself with a large selection and national shipping.

So that I will have as much info as possible, can you answer a few questions for me?

1: What are the shipping fees to ship to Charlotte, NC? Is this fee in addition to the manufacturer delivery fees shown on the sticker? Basically does the car ship to you, and then you ship it to me for an additional fee?

2: What fees would I pay outside the price of the car? Any "Admin fees", "dealer prep" fees, or "paint sealant protectant" fees? If so, what are they?

3: How do I find out what your current inventory is? It would be nice to know that you have the exact car I want when I am out car shopping at local dealers so I dont get talked in to ordering one.

4: How long does it take to get my car from the point I first call you on the phone until the car is sitting in my driveway?

5: On my GTO, I am wanting the front SAP kit (just the front clip and grills). I dont want the sides or rear or SAP spoiler. Would you be able to have this painted & installed before it ships? How long would that take? Also, how much?

6: What would I do if the car came and had a huge scratch down the side, windshield was smashed, or something was wrong with the car? Would I have to drive it from NC to TX to have you sort it out?

I think that is it. Again, my first preference is going to be to find one locally as it would be easier, less stressful if things go wrong, and I might be able to haggle with them. I am just wanting to find out what my options are.

Also, FYI, the specs I am looking for are;
05 GTO, Midnight blue, Manual 6-spd, front SAP fascia & SAP grills.

I will try to check this board as frequently as possible. I am in a different timezone though (GMT), so my respones may be delayed.

Thanks,
Brian Trotter

I live in Fayetteville and bought a 2005 GTO from Jason Feuerberg at Sewell Pontiac. Shipping to me was $625, reasonable. He did all the paperwork, fedexed it to me and provided a rtn envelope prepaid. If you want finacing he can arrange or have your bank send him the info and he takes care of it. Also does the NC Plate you just go to the plate place and pick it up. He gave me a discount too. All in all it was the easiest car I ever bought. They delivered the car to within a mile of my house. The shipping company gives plenty of notice. The car is picked up the same day the deal is closed and I had the car 5 days later. Good Deal.

Hey Bill thanks for the nice comments. Brian let me check my inventory for a Blue 6 speed. The time it takes to get you a car is how long it takes me to get one in my inventory. My orders will update tomorrow and I will let you know.

Wow 2 Months? just wondering I am looking to get a GTO in August, would it be a good idea to be shopping now if it takes that long. Will I need to put the full down payment down or just a portion ?. My fear is ordering to early like if I ordered one now and it comes in July will they hold it for me till I am ready for my full downpayment? I will be looking for a silver/black A4 with just the front SAP kit. not sure what to do any advice.

Thanks in advance
Joe

I would be interested, but to keep from stringing you along, I admit that I would prefer a local purchase over having to get one shipped. Seems like having one shipped might introduce a couple issues that could be stressful. Would you mind answering some of the items above in my original post? This could help sway me or might solidify my desire to stay local. Thanks,
Brian

I would wait if I were you. Since incentives keep changing you want to make sure that you get the best incentive deal. I would wait until you are truly ready to make the commitment. Just my $.02.

Thanks for the advise Jason, I will be ready probably in July/August, just worried that I might not find an '05 but if worse comes to worse I will just wait for the '06.

Thanks again,
Joe

For a GMS customer the best deal is $30,293.23 less $1000 for Hotbutton cash. So your selling price would be $29,293.23. When are you looking to purchase a Yellow 6 speed?

I am looking at purchasing one sometime in Jan or Feb 06. When the cars ship from Australia to the US, are they treated to travel over salt water? I have to get one shipped from the US to Korea, and I am just trying to get a clear idea of what all needs to be done to get it here.
