with traction control on it limits the rate at which you accelerate HOW ANNOYING! itll lag for a second or two than itll throw you back in your seat and youll go flying.. as fun as this may sound ny traffic is often times close in front so you have to jolt the brakes to break off from the rocket acceleration .. is there anyway to limit this so i can get how much acceleration i need but it doesnt fly up in the rpm ranges uncontrollably. with t/c off its fine hmm i guess ill drive wit t/c off .. thoughts? comments?

Seemed to answer your own question, the reason it halts you is to keep your from spinning your tires.

theres something for the automatic gto by our sponers or go look on ebay thers a easy part that just clips on the harness or slpice a wire to your traction control and its off for good. may not be safe but if you know its off your fault. but i never drive with mine on so i know, but look on ebay or our sponsers

Yeah, it is the TQ managment function of the PCM. It is for two reasons...first of to keep traction, and secondly to save wear on it...
Many new GM cars come with it.

The TQ Mgmt and TC are two different functions...besides the $30 wiring harness referenced above, another way to get the TC to default to "off" upon startup is to undo the wire harness at the throttle relaxer located by the passenger side strut tower. If yours is an '04, follow the throttle cable from the TB back to the firewall and around towards the front; the throttle relaxer module is black and about the size of a soda can. The wire harness is on the left hand side of the relaxer as you look at it from above.
Best of luck!

If you get the car tuned and torque management removed/reduced the only time the car will lag is in a low traction condition with TC on. You can even change the settings for TM with a Predator handheld.

How many miles do you have on it? Mine did this a lot when I first got it, but I haven't noticed it much anymore

Mine acts the same way. I guess on nice dry days I will just push the button to turn T/C off.
NY traffic is a b i t c h ain't it?
