During a cold engine start-up on my '05 GTO M6, I sometimes get a little lifter noise which goes away after a second or two. When I started the car for the first time at the dealership (18 miles on odometer), my son who was standing outside the car noticed the noise, but I didn't.

Recently, the car was parked for about a week while I was out of town. When I started it, there was lifter noise which lasted several seconds.

The odometer reading now is about 1,600 miles.

Has anyone else experienced this situation? Should I be concerned about it?

Thanks!

Pretty sure that is normal as the oil drains from the lifters over time, but once the oil pump starts up again it re-lubes the lifters and the sound goes away....at least thats why my engine does it...

Thanks...That's reassuring. I just haven't had a vehicle in the past that made the noise.

You sould hear the 6.0 in the truck i have a 02 2500hd with 130,000 miles been that way its whole life runs great. I have a hypertech on it turns 6200 rpm at least twice a day still strong no oil burn i think the lifter tick is normal.
