Ok take this with a grain of salt, but I have been a truck man all my life, so I don't care for carpet floor mats. They look great and all, just a PITA to care for and adventually I wear a hole in them with my feet.

So I am looking for like a deep groove, heavy, rubber, floor mat. I want to keep all the snow, water and dirt from getting to the carpet. Has anyone purchased some made specifically for the Goat or did you just find some generic ones that fit well? Also could you find a decent match color wise?

I have the same concern about preserving the condition of the original carpet mats.

I plan to buy a set of clear mats made by Lloyd to lay on top of the original carpet mats. These mats are custom made for the '05 GTO.

After a lot of research, I found this online seller to have the best price for a set of 4 mats. Some of the places I looked at wanted more for the front mats only. Even the lowest price for the Lloyd mats is considerably higher than those sold by Wal-Mart, Advance Auto Parts. etc. But I am willing to pay the extra cost to get mats that fit well.

A very good idea.

I just bought some cheapie clear plastic mats and lay them over top and it keeps my floor mats "factory" fresh.

I would like to find some reasonably priced deep grooved fitted ones for winter though. :)

These are the best I have found. I dont have them for the GTO yet but do have them for my SRX and the fit is great. A little pricey tho'.....

These clear vinyl mats have been installed and fit fairly well. Each has a hole for inserting the original mat fastener. But the original fastener isn't long enough to go through both mats if the carpet mat is left in place. However, the nibs on the carpet side of the vinyl mat are about 1/4 inch long and are angled about 45 degrees toward the front, so the mat shouldn't slip.

But it's hard to accept that the set is worth $44.95. There are no lips around the edges of the mats. So for those looking for mats that will retain water, mud, snow, and etc. would probably find these to be unacceptable.

The seller, The Mat Site, gave good service and had the lowest price that I could find.
