Have you had anything break, like diffs, axle shafts or drive shafts? I've read that the stock pieces are only rated at around 400HP. Seems like upgrading these parts should be #1 on anyone's list of mods list, if they plan on adding any power. Looks like about $3500.00 in parts alone. I plan to start purchasing these parts piece-meal. I don't have the goat yet, but soon, very soon.

You should ask Howie, or Jizzer...Howie owns a shop, and Jizzer has a heads/cam swap done and I don't think hes run into any problems.

I have 360/360 Rear Wheel Power. I am driving an auto and these numbers are with the vert unlocked. I am in reality over 400/400 to the wheels....
Now that said...
I push 1.8x 60' times on street tires and run 12.7 @ 108 in DA of 3000+... I leave the hole relativily lightly... no wheelies...
In other words My car will be running low 12s in cool weather. I do not load the tranny before a launch and I am not running slicks.
These cars should be good for about (I say this lightly!) 500/500 wheel power before any hard problems are seen. Although I have heard of slightly over stock power cars breaking half-shafts. This also does not mean go load up slicks and drop the clutch or pre-load and auto and let it rip.
I think you will be ok with near 500/500 if you launch/shift responcibly.
But in order I would get
1. Half-Shafts
2. Drive Shaft
3. Rear
I have never seen any failures as of today (KNOCK KNOCK!!!!!!) and I have seen some low 12 GTOs.

Also....
If you are in an auto -- your tranny will need a rebuild when getting up in hp/tq numbers.
If you are in a manual.. better think of a new spec clutch. I have seen guys burn up clutches at the track.

Thanks for the responses. Right now, I don't know how far I'll go with mods, But about 500 at the wheels is what I'd like. My F-body has a SPEC stage 3 right now, and I hate it. Unless I'm very technical with the throttle/clutch slip relationship, I get teeth-rattling chatter (very embarassing in traffic). It is way more clutch than I need (only 302 at the wheels). When I had the stock clutch, I took the car to an 1/8th mile track, and spun the clutch bad, so I kinda' went overboard with the stage 3. I'm buying an 05 GTO, and I know some of those components are stronger anyway, so we'll see.

Been doing some research on the T56 6 speed and according to what I have read it is only rated to 450 ft/lbs of torque. I have no idea if they measure this at the engine or the rear wheels as I have never been much into transmission work, although I would assume that this would be measured at the engine since one of the weakest spots on the T56 (from what I have read) is the input shaft. As mentioned earlier, most of the rest of the drive train runs into similar problems around the 450 hp-torque mark. I have seen a couple of companies that do upgraded T56 tranny work for around $3000 to $5000 and of course a new clutch, drive shaft, half-shafts, etc.. is going to run you probably another $2500+. For now I am going to play it safe and only mod my Goat up to around the 440 mark, which pretty much means a K&N CAI and a tune with the Predator, assuming it ever comes out for the LS2 GTO. After that nada until I can get the money together to do a full drive train rebuild. I could be wrong on wanting to wait, but as I said, I've never been much for tranny and drivetrains so I just want to play it safe for now.
EDIT: for some reason the forums doesn't like the word s c r a p e
