Alright I want the Hurst shifter for my car. Where is the best and cheapest place to get it? And is it out yet?

I do not believe that it is out yet.

it is not out yet. it remains to be seen if it's better than the Rip Shifter and what the price it will be. the centering springs and shift stops are some things that can make it good but there's only a couple of ways to make them with the handle length, fulcrum point and materials pretty much the only other variables.

Alot of people seem to have the B&M Ripper. It is a good peice, and rather cheap now that they have been on the market a while.

I have been looking for the release of the hurst shifter also. I found the company's web site, and looked at their new products for 2006. Here is the link

http://go.mrgasket.com/newproducts/flyers/74230g.pdf

Its the last item on page two. I think it looks great and it reduces the throw by 45%. I just don't know yet when its to be released. If I find out, I'll let everyone know.

i've read Feb but they once said before Christmas too. i wouldn't hold my breath and for most of you i'd let someone else try it before you get too excited. just because it's Hurst doesn't mean it's going to be better. if you don't want to go with a tried and true GMM Rip Shifter at least wait until the Hurst is tried and true. the B&M has been a disappointment for many thus far.

I heard back from Tech Support at Mr. Gasket. It appears that the Hurst shifter for the new goat will be released on Feb 6. Of course, he didn't specify a year, but I will make an assumption that its 2006. I am going to get one for sure.

the last i heard from someone that was proto-type testing the Hurst, the latest version lengthened the throw a bit. remember that if you shorten the throw it increases the effort. the T56 tranny isn't the smoothest one out there and it requires some effort.

I'm looking forward to seeing if this shifter will be a good alternative to the GMM Rip Shifter. Hopefully it will have an easier instal, but I won't bet on it.

On a side note....
svede1212 and juniorcruzer, you need to fix your signature. It looks like crap!

somebody else broke it. it used to be fine.
P.S. it should be a lot easier to install because you're not replacing the base of the shifter which was the hard part to get out. on the flip side it is probably why it will be inferior.

I was wondering if anyone has tried putting one of those sweet looking "T" handle Hurst shiftknobs on their 2004-2006 yet? Kind of give it an old school/new school look. Just curious.

Hurst isn't coming out with the shifter..
Here from GTOforum.com:

That's what I thought... I talked to them for a while and they said that more than likely they will not be producing them.... when I asked why the picture was on the website they couldn't tell me.

Ya know, as nice as these cars are, I can't believe what a POS shifter they have in them. The shifter is the ONLY thing I absolutely hate about my car. I can't wait to change it. The only reason I haven't (yet) is because I really don't drive the car all that much. lol. It only has 6,000 miles on it.
