I have a 05 GTO w/ the 6m and am experiencing gear whine in the rear differential when under light to moderate acceleration. I have about 3K miles on the car and only started noticing it last week. It seems to be getting more pronounced.
Has anyone else experienced this? Also, what was your dealership experience in how they handled it?

Could be either a defective rear axle or improper break in. There are threads here on both topics. Dealers are replacing the ring/pinion on the bad ones, I think. When you get a new one, follow the manual break in procedures like a new car and you won't have any trouble. See my reasoning elsewhere.

Milehi...I suspect you drove your baby quite well during break having met you and knowing how you like your "baby" :) I think the dealer will take care of you. MLDavis is right though...you will need to run through break in again to ensure that you don't get the same noise due to the parts not mateing up correctly and smoothing off.

Muffler Bearing???? :D
JK...
I agree with MLDAVIS. Sounds like its the Ring and Pinon are not meshing right for some reason.
