milehiGTO 09-15-2005, 07:40 PM I have a 05 GTO w/ the 6m and am experiencing gear whine in the rear differential when under light to moderate acceleration. I have about 3K miles on the car and only started noticing it last week. It seems to be getting more pronounced. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, what was your dealership experience in how they handled it? :type: mldavis 09-15-2005, 08:46 PM Could be either a defective rear axle or improper break in. There are threads here on both topics. Dealers are replacing the ring/pinion on the bad ones, I think. When you get a new one, follow the manual break in procedures like a new car and you won't have any trouble. See my reasoning elsewhere. usafagoat 09-15-2005, 09:18 PM Milehi...I suspect you drove your baby quite well during break having met you and knowing how you like your "baby" :) I think the dealer will take care of you.
