on the pontiac site, theres a link "see how we beat the competition" and it has the GTO running a 6.00 second 0-60. So is that the real time??

In that same comparo that was done the 05 Mustang GT ran a 6.3X or something like that in the 0-60 also.

The people testing the cars couldn't drive.

Pontiac quotes 4.6 and 4.7 for the auto and manual.

Don't believe that 6.0 is the 0-60 time for a second. Unless some grandma or hamfoot is driving it. :)

I've ridden in a GTO before, and the only person I know of that would take 6 seconds to get it to 60 mph would be my grandma. Other than that, I'd say the -5 sec. estimates hold a lot more truth :afro:

0-60's are really obsolete as far as comparing cars. If they are testing the car on a track then you can get a calculated 0-60 from the 1/8 mile. With 400hp the launch on the street will never hook so you have to figure in wheels spin into the equation. I have an '02 Mustang GT with a 4000 rpm torque converter. If I were to punch it from a dead stop say on a warm day when the street hooks better, I would spin my car right thru to 3rd gear. So even though I'm making alot of torque, the wheel spin would kill my 0-60.
However on the track, where they have the track prepped with VHT, I can punch the car and get 0 wheel spin and on slicks I can go 0-60 in under 5 seconds easy. I think calculated from my slips for the 1/8th mile, my 0-60 is about 4.6 secs at the track. If you guys went to the track with drag radials and you mashed it, you would also see a 0-60 well under 5 secs. But most of your muscle would show up after 60mph.
But let me tell you that you cannot use the 0-60 as a measure performance from one car to the next. You have to go atleast 1/8 mile to see which car is quicker. That would be more like a 0-85 mph race. So much happens after 60mph that you would be cheating yourself our of *all your HP* that you guys have after 60mph.
Traction is everything.
Also you get different tractions on different kinds of streets.Tires make a big difference too. I don't street race but you can get beat by a car with alot less hp if the other car has more traction. Also temp affects the traction also. You can go to a road on a warm day and get pretty good traction. But if you go to the same road on a colder day, you will just sit there and spin.
Take your cars to the track and you will see how well your cars do. You will be pleasently surprised!!!
