It's been a month and a few days with the goat, up untill now, without trouble. I started getting the 5 beats of the horn yesterday. This morning I realized that the driver's door will not lock. She's giong to the dealer tomorrow. And I thought I had a "good" one. <_<

I am really shocked at all of the problems that I am hearing about with the GTO. They all seem to be annoying glitch-type problems. So far, not one issue with my GTO in 8 months (unless you count the cracked rim from hitting a rock and the dent on the roof from a flying rock) Good to know what to watch out for, though. (crosses fingers).

It won't lock from the key fob, inside or both?
Let us know what you find out.

The door lock button would not move at all. I took the car in yesterday, and fortunately, it was just stuck somehow. There are parts on order, but it's working for now. :D

You do know that the door will not lock when opened using the lock on the door right?
Safety feature or something like that.
I'd hate to see you have work done or parts ordered when that could be all that is wrong. Would it not lock when you were inside and the door closed?

That's correct. I first tried while seated, both doors closed. Then, outside, doors closed and using the key. You could hear the solenoid energizing with the key and fob, but the knob/button stayed up. I never lock the doors before closing them, on any of my vehicles. Years ago, I adopted that practice to keep from locking the keys in them.

mine has been like this for two months and I haven't taken it in yet--still don't completely trust my dealer....Everyone knows where my car is parked thought :( ...both doors lock and unlock, but the passeneger lock stays "down"(still lock and unlocks)..let me know if warranty covers it

Since the repair done on the 13th, everything is fine. A replacement lock button was put in today. I wish things were as simple on my T/A. It has the headlight problem, where either turning the headlights off, or locking the car with the fob, the driver's headlight door motor continues to drive and makes a loud grinding noise. The service folks want almost $600.00 to fix it.

Yeah, I traded my 96 TransAm with one bad headlight door that made noise when shutting it down. Worked that way for over a year, though. It's just annoying when you pull into a parking lot everyone looks at you. $408 estimate here.
I'm not a fan of anything that is a gimmick. You might make a case for keeping rocks from breaking the bulb, or for keeping the light clean in dirty driving weather, but either way, wiping the headlight off or replacing it is a he11 of a lot cheaper than replacing those stupid doors. I think the gears must be plastic and a cam stop shears off if you forget and try to open them in icy weather or if you turn the manual screws too far in the wrong direction.
Wait 'til those BMW and Merc drivers run out of warranty and all those toys quit working. I used to love hearing the gripes when I ran a BMW service department and got a $2,000 job to keep some wealthy lawyer's pride and joy running.
But I digress..... no trouble with the Goat.
