Just purchased an 05 last weekend after a year or so of reading about it. First night home, before i even had time to clean out the garage to make room for my new addition, the rain came. Now its all spotted and needs a good cleaning. Before I do my first wax job on the new car, I was told to buy a wax remover because car dealerships use a cheap spray on wax that looks good for the short term but is not so good to put a fresh coat of wax over top of. Personally I have my doubts that the dealership waxed the car at all. The water only beaded up in a couple of spots not the entire car. Anyway, does anyone know if there is any truth to this.

Kinda sounds like they didn't if it didn't bead up.

If you are concerned about it. You can always use a mild dish detergent to strip the old wax off. (Instead of a car wash or "shampoo"). Then get a good coat of whatever wax you like or prefer. Some people swear by Zaino but I have always liked the results of Meguiars Gold Class wax.

Remember not to use the dish soap to wash as it will strip off the wax you lay down on it too. Good luck. :)
