Currently I'm in a 2005 cobalt SS supercharged. I enjoy the car alot, but I'm nicely upside down in the price. So I began thinking, if i'm 'always going to have a car payment' as many have told me, and am already upside down, why not be upside down in a 400HP, V8 car with the style and name of GTO :-D.

My family has baught 3 05 vettes, and i've purchased my cobalt from the same guy, so he's going to help me out in getting it. I'm wondering pretty much, how you 05'ers like your GTO. I read the post about stage 3 SRT4's being close to the 05 GTO's, but after some mods on the GTO, do the SRT's fall back in line?
I'm definatly not leaving it stock, so hopefully as i read more in the boards, i'll see alot of vendors and aftermarket parts.

Since i'm already in an 05 car, I don't "need" to upgrade, it's preference. I just want the confidence from GTO owners that I wont make a mistake.

Thanks alot!

Well your comparing modded to stock, but yes with mods the SRTs do fall into place, but instead of the 4s you have to worry about the 8s which are equally in the same power range so..

I love the CSS, but the GTO is another level of car.

Well, I can certainly vouch for the '05 GTO. This car is what I had been waiting for ever since I sold my '72 GTO almost 20 years ago.

Well, unfortunatly, i'm too upside down in my cobalt, that if I want reasonable monthly payments, for a 2005/6 GTO, i'll need $10,000 down.
From everything i've seen on the car, it's hard for me to decide weather to save up for a few months, then trade in, or just upgrade the SS.

As much as I enjoy my 2004 GTO, from what you've posted, I would advise keeping your Cobalt. I believe the aftermarket for the Cobalt SS will really begin to grow over the next few years. Trading a car in with negative equity is not a good move.
