Dunno what you guys have heard, but I've heard rumours of HSV putting an LS7 in the next HSV GTS Coupe (the last one had a 300kw C4B engine)

All I can say is HURRY UP :D

I'v herd all sorts of rumors about, but I don't think it will happen, mainly because production takes such a long time for the LS7, being handbuilt and with so many expensive parts, I would expect it to add a healthy chunk to the MSRP as well.

I posted that information on this site a couple of months ago. Sinse then, all has gone quiet, but dealers are holding deposits for this car at an approximate price of $130k+. I believe the car will happen, as dealers are NOT returning deposits. Heard a rumour that LS7s were hard to source, which may create a problem--I don't know the answer to that one--but if it's not LS7, it will be a much more powerful LS2. But be rest assured, HSV have something very special on the go for their last coupe- I reckon something will happen in the next few months, but in any event I believe IT WILL HAPPEN!

You can buy a crate LS7 from GM for $15,000.00. Minus the harness, ecm and oil pump.

Really not all THAT expensive. Not even 10k more than an LS2. I dunno what all the fuss is about. It shouldn't really add that much to the MSRP of those cars. 15 or 20 k on top of the normal price would be reasonable and understandable...but if they're going to sell them for 130k...they're smokin crack. But I reckon there's OTHER folks out there, hittin the ole crack pipe that got the cash to buy them. So more power to em.

The RUMOUR is that only 50 of these SPECIAL coupes will be made. The cost of the engine is only one aspect. The cost of a GTO in Aus is approx $85k driveaway- add on $15k for extra cost of LS7, Bigger brakes $12k, Heavier transmission??, unique trim, wheels, enginering/development costs, etc etc-- it won't take much to get it to $130k!!- could even go higher.

$12K for bigger brakes? Yikes! I'm guessing that these bad boys would cause the car to stop on a dime. What kind of performance would you expect that we will see from this beast? I guess I will have to see it when all is said and done to reconcile whether or not the $130K prices tag is worth consideration. Don't get me wrong, I won't be buying one, but I will be thinking about the cost to benefit ratio. :D

they needed to make a few of those for over here so they could stop putting the gtos up against the high dollar special edition cars that they seam to run the gto against in all the ragazines over here. that way at least we would have the specail edition that would trump all these other limited edition cars.I cant wait to hear about how the new 500gt kicks our ass(at more than $10k more than the gto).

Just a bit of an "update" on this issue, well not much of an update really, because I've heard nothing!! However, I'm not giving up all hope just yet, because HSV have not yet announced what they are going to do for their "FINAL" run of Coupes. As soon as I have either a "yes" or "no", I'll post it here. Not that you guys have a worry, -- you've got your Z06 Corvette!
Cheers, Pickles.

Well, here is the "final" update on this issue. The HSV LS7 powered "supercoupe" is DEAD. It is not going to happen! HSV have just announced their last coupe, which is named the "Signature". 70 will be produced, all coloured red, & will have a sunroof & AP racing 6 spot brakes(362mm front rotors, 343 rears), & other minor items as standard. There will be no engine upgrade.
Cheers, Pickles.
