Just joined the site, would like to say hi to all. Does anybody have an idea if the 05 manual trans cars have a in-dash tach? i heard that the o4's do. just bought my goat last month and still learning.

Are you talking about a tachometer? Or do you mean something else?

I believe they all do, you just have to activate it for it to work.

I guess my question is, why have it if it is not active by default? I saw that there is a company that will program it to function, both light and audible. They do some other stuff they do with their programming, such as:
Choice of Start-Up Logos including: Holden, HSV, Chevrolet and others!
HSV Shutdown information (Customized to show owners name ect.)
Daytime Running Light Indicator or FULL delete
Skip Shift Indicator Delete (For customers with a skip shift eliminator)
Current Gear Indicator (Shows current gear shifted into on M6 and A4 1st through 4th gear only)
MPH/KPH Indicator Dimming (For early 2004's with the retna searing MPH problem)
2004 Odometer/Speedometer Correction (Corrects 2.91%+ Error on the 2004 instrument cluster)
Lighting Intensity Changes (Brighten display sections as much as 10% or dim to suite your personal tastes)From memory, the programming cost is approximately $120.

It's there because its a Holden feature, but GM didn't want to face any possible liability suits because of the built in race feature, some one goes out and gets killed using it and GM gets a nice lawsuit...at least thats my guess. Also you don't really need it in an auto.

Any idea how to get it activated other the a $120 program? the owners manual says nothing, but i saw it on a video at www.streetfire.net (http://www.streetfire.net) they have 15 pages of 04, 05,06 videos. Just click on the videos icon and type gto into the search area.

With the prevalence of the law suit, I suspect that you are correct. Not everyone wants to take responsibility for their actions. I could easily go off on a tangent, but I will refrain.

Maybe if I had this option available I would stop banging off the rev limiter. Maybe I should just learn to drive the durn car. ;)

Send a PM to GTPPrix. Chris White. Nice guy can do it for you.

GTOShiftLight.com I believe. He posts here quite often. I saw him doing it for a GTO owner last year at the National Meet in St.Louis. Not sure what his prices are but you can find out.

Hope that helps. :)

wow this is awesome, the color combinations are sweet and to think monaro is that gracious on the info screen in terms of shifting and what else you can do with it, truly this is probably the most unique thing i've seen on a car
