Exactly...Stock A4: ~15% drivetrain loss = less RWHP & easier to launch
Stock M6: ~10% drivetrain loss = more RWHP & harder to launch

If I were to drive both cars, I suspect that I would do better (faster) driving the A4.

before i bought my m6 the salesman at devoe pontiac in bonita springs raced 2 gtos one a4 the other m6 well the m6 took the a4 by a car thats why i have the m6. autos loose 50hp to the m6 now with a good torque converter u can gain that back .

I am no expert, but 50 Hp difference between the A4 and M6 sounds a little excessive. If I were to haphazard a guess, I would think the difference would be closer to 20 Hp. If I am not correct, please feel free to correct me. Like I said, I am just guessing.

Considering 10% loss from the manual and 15% from the auto. That would be 360 for the M6 and 340 for the auto. That's only 20 HP.

With a 50 HP loss we would be seeing a larger discrepancy in 1/4 mile times between the 2 and we just aren't.

Agreed, the salesman just wanted the sale. GM would face a lawsuit if the autos started dynoing 50 HP under the manuals.
