: New PB with my LTs and DRs
svede1212 04-11-2006, 07:56 PM went from a 13.39 last year to a 12.917 @107.79, 1.882 60' with just my Nitto 275/40/17 DRs, SLP LTs, MAF sensor delete and my tune with HP Tuners. i dipped into the 12s twice Sunday and ran 13.0-13.2 on 6 other runs. i be :D
Orbit Orange 04-11-2006, 10:32 PM 12's are nice.
Refresh my memory, 04 or 05, I'm thinking 04?
formula79 04-11-2006, 11:47 PM Awesome! It is still cool out, so now is the time to get those records in!
svede1212 04-12-2006, 07:26 AM 2004 with the "little" LS1 :)
Orbit Orange 04-12-2006, 09:43 PM Way to represent for us 2004 guys!
I'd venture to guess you're putting out 400 crank HP just like an 05 and there'd be a lot of stock 05's jealous of that time. Good work. :)
LA_Phantom 04-14-2006, 01:41 AM Congrats on the new personal best. I am thinking that I have to agree with OO in terms of his thought regarding '05 owners. I can say this because I have an '05 and suspect that I would not be hitting 12's. ;) Again, congrats.

svede1212 04-14-2006, 07:32 AM thanks all. is anybody else running without the MAF? just my humble opinion but i think it's a pretty big restriction in the intake.
mechanic58 04-14-2006, 08:04 AM MAF Delete...hmm.
Nocturn 04-14-2006, 03:24 PM MAF, or MAF screen?
svede1212 04-14-2006, 07:09 PM MAF, or MAF screen?
de hole stinkin' ting. i have a custom, high flow, "race" 3" PVC pipe where it used to be :)
Nocturn 04-15-2006, 06:55 PM de hole stinkin' ting. i have a custom, high flow, "race" 3" PVC pipe where it used to be :)
So um...how does the engine computer know how much air is going into the engine and thus how much fuel to put in? The main reason its there is because the computer calculates how much fuel to put in based on the temp and speed of the air traveling into the engine...so yes...how is that working?
mechanic58 04-15-2006, 07:12 PM I know what he's done...he's removed the MAF from the intake stream and just put it on the exhaust stream instead. That works too. (LMFAO!)
mechanic58 04-15-2006, 07:35 PM Actually, in theory, I suppose it would be possible to run without the MAF...if you somehow faked it's presence. Problem IS, it would really have a profound effect on the car's drivability. (Assuming said faking was done to mimic WOT)
svede1212 04-16-2006, 12:51 AM the VCM reverts to speed denisty tuning without the MAF and determines fuel thu the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) and VE (how much air is going in the cylinders) tables. there's a write up on LS1TECH on tuning using a WB O2 sensor and adjusting your VE tables. in essence it "looks up" the manifold vacuum in the volume effiency tables (at a given RPM) and with the AIT determines how much air is going in and provides the appropriate fuel. it drives great and accelerates like a banshee. WOT is another table like VE that controls fueling. speed density is used today on some vehicles and was used on GM cars in the past. the car is run in open loop instead of closed loop like normal.
PS, you need a programer like HP Tuners or EFI Live to pull it off.
mechanic58 04-16-2006, 10:23 AM Interesting. I have OCD though. I could NOT drive my car if I knew there was an unplugged connector just hanging in the engine bay. That would drive me nuts. lol.
It's a restriction, but not as much as you may think on a 346.
svede1212 04-30-2006, 06:44 PM maybe but it has about 2/3 the cross sectional area of the throttle body
