So i went to the track last night for my first time ever and i think i did alright for the conditions. I had a hard time grabbing traction and if not that then avoiding wheel hop.
My best time:
60': 2.259
660': 9.154
E.T.: 14.040
MPH: 100.381
I started with a 2.4 60' and 14.6 E.T.:( with 40 psi in the tires. I only got heavy wheel spin but no wheel hop.
Once i realized that the tires had all that preassure i dropped them to 25 psi and the second run i got my best time.
I need to find the sweet spot to launch between wheel hop and tire spin. My best times were tire spin with the lower tire pressure, if i didn't give it enough throttle i would get 2.3-2.4 60's with really bad wheel hop.
The track is at roughly 5000' and it was probably a good 70* out.
I also have the 17" wheels with all seasons which probably doesn't help, next time i will shoot for 13's.

i ran my stock tires ~25# and left from idle. i let out the clutch rapidly (didn't dump it) and mashed the gas at the same time. i could get 2.0 - 2.1 60s pretty consistantly w/13.4-13.5 ETs.

Ok i went to the track again guys. I had a much better average time of 14.2, and mostly 2.2 60's. When i finally dropped it to 25 psi in the tires i first got another 14 flat, then i got a 2.17 60' with a 13.9 E.T. @ 100. The D.A. for that night was 8,000' so i'd say this is a good time.
They had no track prep, all they did was spray some water but no sweeping or cleaning, so very hard to hook up. I have drag radials coming soon.

Good job. I suspect that the drag radials will make a big difference in your times. Please keep up posted.
BTW: What size DR's are you getting?

I'm getting the same size as stock since i have not rolled the fenders yet or even plan to. So they'll be the 245-45-17 i believe. The only people who make them in that size is nitto.

I took a look at Nitto's and did not find anything that I was happy with in the sense that for an 18" wheel, the least wide tire I could find was way too wide for my 8" rim. All I found was a 305 series. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a Nitto tire that will work with my stock 18" wheels? TIA

You should buy two extra 17's off of ebay and use them at the track with some DR's. It would be a better set up unless your looking at something wider than 245.

I would have loved not to have to purchase wheels, but I am not certain of my possible options. Currently I am not at a point where I am ready to do this. I will certainly have to do some additional research before I decide the route I will take.
