We've discussed this before, but I thought I'd bring it up again to find out how many of you have the front strut rub. I'm going to be getting new tires soon and I'm going to take it into the dealer to document the rub and see if we can maybe cut down on it with an alignment within specs. I pulled my left 2 tires today trying to trace down a mild and intermittent squeal so I checked to see how much more rub is going on. It still is and is causing the front tire to become rubbed/ground down.
So how many of you have it and if you did, did you ever get rid of it?

I have a slight amount on the passenger-side strut. About a sq. cm. of paint is gone from strut. Fortunately, there are no tire markings at all. I am wondering if the rub occurred during one particular incident in which I took a curve to the right at an insane speed! BTW, the Goat behaved like a slot car in that turn, but I was pressing awfully hard against the door!
Unless the situation gets worse, I don't plan to have anything done......afraid they might make it worse!

That would definitely be a concern of mine if experiencing, in your case, such an innocuous occurrence of strut rub.

Just as a quick follow up: As I told the tech today before the alignment about maybe bumping out the camber of the fronts within specs due to the tire rubbing the strut, he tried to tell me it was impossible to rub because the two were "fixed" and wouldn't move. I guess the paint just jumped off the strut by itself then. I just told him to take a look when he got the fronts off. I'd like to know how rubber is "fixed" and can't move?
I'll be checking my tires and rotating every 3K miles from here on out. :)

yeah sometimes mechanics try to b.s. thier way through a request by saying its impossible to do or the problem your experiencing is not possible.Id have gone to the service manager about it so he could actually see for himself the problem and the mechanic would have to treat your problem instead of trying to blow it off.

You may need a cradle alignment and a 4 wheel alignment...

You may need a cradle alignment
Rear cradle seems fine, that's not where the rub occurs anyway, only on the fronts.
And yes I did have a 4 wheel alignment.
So far I don't have any rub with the new tires and alignment. (I'll keep a close eye on it.) :)
