As a new GTO owner for about a month now, i would like to start putting differnet mods over time i.e. headers, exhaust , MAF, CAI, ripshift, hp tuner etc. How do these or other good mods figure into manufacturers warrenty. Does it void warrenty?? Want to go fast but can't afford to lose a car and still pay for it. ANY info greratley appreciated!!

As far as upgrading your exhaust . You cant be denied your rights under the waranty for upgrades to the exhaust system. however headers could be considered too much of a change from stock and could possibly be deemed a warranty voiding mod. A catback system cannot void the warranty but does add much power. According to the K&N website they say thier product will not void the factory warranty . I doubt a shifter will void the warranty unless you develop a shifter related problem which obviously wouldnt be covered. Any changes to the programing will void the warranty( ie deviating from the stock tune)

It also has a great deal to do with how honest you dealer is. The dealer I bought my Silverado from fought with me over replacing my warped front brake rotors. The service manager tried to tell me that my wheels/31" tires that I added put undue stress on the front brakes and voided the warranty. But he was so inept that I took it in the next day with the factory rims and tires on it and he did the work. I couldn't tell if he even remembered me or not but they replaced the rotors without question less than 24 hrs after I took it in the 1st time.

dunno that is pretty funny. what you say is true about the honesty of the dealership. Quite frankly if you bought your car from a good dealership they will do thier best to make sure everything is covered under the warranty .Since they dont lose any money for the repair it good p.r. for them but if a repair if refused by the dealer it could result in the lose of a future sale especially when they know you bought the car from them to start with.
