Dealer cost I would think is the mid to upper 20s. plus or minus options.

No Gas guzzler tax on a 6 speed. Also the GM holdback is 3% of invoice

I have a GID number (suppliers discount) in my possesion as an Ace in the hole so to speak, but I think under the current conditions (market) I may be able to negotiate a better deal without it.

The GID price for the stated vehicle is $30,407 total ... However, I think I may be able to get it down below $29,000.

This dealer was very reluctant to take this delivery (GM forced the issue). I live in VT. The area in which I live is somewhat depressed therefore people up here are very, very reluctant to spend $30,000+ for a vehicle that is useless in Winter. Insurance rates are extreme for people under the age of 30. People under the age of 30 do not have the money to spend on a Gararge queen / Sunday driver / collector car. All in all a very very limited market.

I am paying cash - and now I know the dealer is holding $3000 of GM's money I should be able to get this vehicle for under 30K...

I will let you guys know how I make out...

Here is the price breakdown (GMS is the employee price which is basically what the dealer cost is.) The only options I selected was the 6spd and 18inchers - this is reflected in the total MSRP.

YOUR VEHICLE
Vehicle:2006 GTO
Selected Style:GTO
Exterior:Spice Red Metallic
Interior:Black Leather
Total MSRP:*$33,180.00
MSRP:$33,290.00
Color & Options:$-110.00
Total MSRP:*$33,180.00
GMS Price:***$30,357.35
Current Offers:-$0.00
Net Price:$30,357.35
Dealer Installed Options:$0.00

The GMS price is what employees pay. This is normally lower than supplier pricing. Are you including any rebates in your quoted supplier price because it doesn't seem right according to our internal GM employee websites.

Normally, my advice to non-employees is that if you can get within $300-$500 of the employee price, then that isn't a bad deal. I believe they currently are offering $1000 cash back (at least in my area).

I really hope they don't resort to employee pricing again this year. (It scr*wed the employees who were used to getting the employee prices and then applying whatever incentives offered on top of that ... made for some really good deals ... also indicates the markup on vehicles.)

Actually, I heard a rumor that GM will be starting a 10% off deal. If so, that would be pretty good ($3300) off MSRP. (That would put it right where your supplier price is.)

Good luck.

Another thing to consider is how long that vehicle has been sitting on the lot. If it's been there for a couple of weeks, the dealer may not want to sell yet holding out for more money. If it's been there for months, they may be willing to come down, especially if they are having to pay interest on that vehicle. At 30,407 minus the 1000 cashback I see 29,407. I'd say you are not going to get it down much farther than that. The dealer isn't going to to sell at NO profit to him/her. The game is to get it low enough that they will pull the deal. Good luck and let us know how low you go. :)

Oops, I just caught this. It's not even on the lot yet?

cash sale on a new not on the lot yet 06 GTO

They won't go any lower, even with what you say about the area, at this time. Now if it sits there for 2 months they might change their tune.

Have a contingent deal in place for $30,200 - (couldn't move this chick any lower)

Contingent upon me selling my 1999 Cobra with 22854 miles as CHERRY as they get and stock except for an exhaust before new car arrives in mid August I did put a refundable deposit on it - anyone interested in the Cobra???
