A new GTO could come from two places : - If they develop a two door version of the Holden Commodore that was revealed to the public just this week. Everything I have heard indicates that if they do spawn a 2 door version it probably won't be built down under due to the limited numbers down there. (They already have a fairly extended portfolio of cars to be built off this platform down there, and 2 doors don't have as much appeal as an El Camino type vehicle (called the 'Ute) which is expected to be the next vehicle they produce off the platform. It has been suggested that this Commodore could be produced here in North America and sold as a Pontiac G8 (RWD replacement for Grand Prix). If that happens, then a 2 door would likely follow ... but 2007 might be a little optimistic to get a plant up and running. - The other option is that the GTO would be made alongside the Camaro. (Actually, both of those cars could be made alongside the above mentioned G8.) Remember, the Camaro has not even officially be announced as a production car, and the concept shown is not production ready so still requires development. Some have optimistically said that the production Camaro could be ready by 2008 (as a 2009 model) but 2009 is probably a better bet. All we really know for sure is that the current GTO is going away. You should have done a little more research. Production has ended on the current GTO. This was known to happen 3 years ago. No current announcement has been made on the future GTO yet.
