These are some runs i made down at Martin 131 Dragway last Sunday. it was a blast. they had a beat the heat where you raced slow-assed police cars. :D they were good sports and it was a lot of fun on a beautiful day. the only downer of the day was that after the first run the track was like glass and you can see my wheels spinning in the early gears as i tried to find that balance spot. i only ran 13.0-13.4 that day because of traction. it was sunny when it started at 11:00, about 80* and went to about 84* when i left at 4:00. the logs show what a SS Intake with the Omega thermistor can do. The therm reacts pretty quickly to air going in. the intake pulls off near the ground and has a scoop below. you can see the effect of the scoop and the sucking air when i get moving. times 'til IATs came down to 86* or below was 2.5-5.2 seconds. the slow one was mostly because it was 84* and it took over 5 seconds to get to 86* and the motor was really heat soaked by then.

Run 1. my best run. 80*, sunny, 2.5 seconds to within 3* of ambient

Run 4. spinning now. 81-82*. little longer response but still in 3.5 seconds

Run 6, Heat soaked to the max. 84* longest response time but still cool and quick for when it was.

One thing I can see is when your IAT's start to dip, timing starts to go up. It was hard to tell at what point in the run but it looked like IAT's dipped below 83 degrees F and timing was advanced maybe 1 or 2 degrees.

The numbers at the bottom of the graph represent time I guess but they are confusing me, can you help me understand them. :)

I also noticed that when you drop below that magic 86 degree IAT mark is when timing advance goes up. I believe that is the "magic" temp. we need to be below to wring the most out of our 04's. Unless someone has had their IAT tables redone say by HPTuners or another knowledgable tuner. :)

the numbers at the bottom are frames. you can see the vertical marker line i have on there is at frame 94 (on run#6). in the left side column you can see the readings at that point i.e. frame 94 shows 104* IAT. i have HPT and haven't messed with the IAT retard table yet but i may soften it a bit. with IATs of most GTO owners in the 120-150* range on the strip at startup and with the slow drop in temp with CAIs and stock IAT sensors it's easy to see where we're losing power in the summer heat. it's also easy to see whats happening with the HPT software. i can move the reference line to any point and at the bottom it shows in fractions of a second what part of the log i'm in and all the readings at that point.

No, no parts are interchangable, SS most likely means Stainless Steele.

no, it means "soft sided" because of the insulation on the pipe. it was a joke that nobody got. there is an intake that someone called Hardcore put together and he called it the "Hardcore Intake". he asked that anybody that used it to refer to it as such. i thought it a bit pompas as this style had been done before but it caught on i think because it sounds like porn :) soft side, hard center, that's the joke. mine uses completely different parts but the improvements of heat shielding, ventilation of the engine bay, insulation and a faster acting thermistor make it superior as proven thru testing.
