: Spoiler Delete Mod

Well, I received my Spoiler Delete Kit this morning via UPS. I had seen some pictures of other GTO's with the modification implemented and thought that they looked good. Subsequently, I wanted to try this one out for myself.

I disconnected the brake light wire and pulled the spoiler off the car. Before stepping back and taking a look at the car, I grabbed some wax and hit that portion of the trunk where the spoiler contacts it. With the trunk cleaned up, I stepped back to take a look at what I had done. Uh oh...I am not liking it too much. I called the wife to come, take a look, and offer her opinion. I will spare you all of the details, but to make a long story short, she hated it. She said that without the spoiler, the goat reminded her of a Honda Civic. That was enough for me. I quickly connected the brake light and bolted the spoiler back on the car. Ah...much better. I do not know what it is that I am missing, but my goat looked no where near as good as the aforementioned pictures of goats with this mod.

Let me just say that the Spoiler Delete Kit I received was top notch. The plugs were painted to match the car, which they did perfectly. I ordered the kit at 11:00 PM on Tuesday night and it arrived before 11:30 AM Friday morning (UPS Ground). For anyone interested in this mod, I would certainly recommend this particular kit. It is too bad I did not like the looks of the car without the spoiler.

Of the kit, or the car without the spoiler? If it is the latter, I did not take any pictures. I can take pictures of the kit if you would like to see it. ;)

the latter actually, i've seen some pics of GTOs without them and they looked good....does it look different in person.

Yeah, I think that it did look different from the pictures I have seen. There was something missing...something I am unable to put my finger on. Maybe it is the fact that I don't have 275 series rubber out back...or maybe there is no rake to the car with the stock suspension. I can't say for sure.

The cars look more like a Mitsubishi Eclipse or some other type of Japanese import with the spoiler on IMO.

For me the SAP spoiler was the finishing "touch". I think the color of the car also makes the "look", with or without the spoiler. Some look cleaner w/o, but mine reminds me of the spoiler I had on my old '69, it finished the car. Its just preference, what ever is pleasing to YOUR eye that counts.

I like the spoiler. DON'T like the SAP spoilers. Bluck. What they NEED to come up with is a rear window 3rd brake light delete kit. Hmm, I just gave myself an idea.

05_GTO's goat is one of the cars without a spoiler I think looks awesome. I still do not know why my car looked so crappy without the spoiler. At worst, I thought that it would look like a BMW. ;)

You think it looks crappy without a spoiler by ITSELF? Or are you making reference to a PICTURE of it without the spoiler, that also includes yourself? Because if that's the case, then perhaps your eyes were tricked into thinking it was ugly, because you were standing next to it. ? (lmfao!)

But I never took a picture of the car without the spoiler. The car was spoilerless for about 5 minutes total, and we both know that it would take at least 10 minutes to take a picture of my bicep alone. :p

Besides, according to the ladies, if I were standind next to the car when a picture was taken, they would have never even noticed there was a car.

I don't know what I am going to be for Halloween. However, word has it that Lou is going to go dressed as me. ;)

Back to the spoiler subject. As bad as I thought the car looked without the spoiler, I am still thinking about taking it off again. I do not know but my opinion may have been biased by my wife's comment. Decisions...decisions...

Don't take it off, I think it looks like an unwiped a$$ without it. Just my opinion though.

I thought about it a bit and I am not going to take it off. I don't know why I would think that the car would look any better the second time I took the spoiler off. ;)

To me the GTO without a spoiler looks like a fat Chevy Caviler!

I take it that some of you do no like the spoiler delete mod? I will take that under advisement. Perhaps this afternoon I will take a good look at the car. :)

As it turns out, this afternoon, in between loads of laundry and grocery shopping, I reinstalled the spoiler. I was interested to see how quickly I could do it. The process took me a little over 7 minutes. Not that I did not like the looks of the car without the spoiler, but it still seemed as if something were missing without it.

Personally, I went spoilerless - permanently.

But then again, I'm going for a different look entirely.
