Recently within the last couple of thousand miles, I have noticed a high pitched sqealing from the driver rear wheel area. It isn't there all the time. Usually it comes on after some spirited driving and it tends to go away in mundane driving until more recently. When I hit the brakes it stops the noise but it soon returns a few seconds later. It also looks like the driver rear rotor is wearing a little different than the passenger rear. The inner portion of the rotor near the hub is more polished than the rest.

My question to any of you is this. Do you think this could be a brake problem? An adjustment maybe to the calipers/rotor/pads? (Brakes do not pulse or squeel when braking though) Or could this be something more like a rear hub/bearing starting to go bad. I do plan on taking it in to be checked but I like to go in armed with some extra knowledge so the problem can be fixed. Anyone else experience this yet?

Regardless it is becoming annoying as all h#ll. Your thoughts?

Could be just loose pads in their holder....or it could be a loose wheel bearing, like you suggested. Jack it up and check it. Take 5 mins.

Spirited driving? Like driving and braking enough to heat them up? Sounds like the brake wear checks talking to you when the brakes get hot. When was the last time you checked them? Hope it's a brake issue. Good luck.

No not that. I usually notice it after I've spun the tires. TC off of course. Sometimes when I'm hard on the throttle from say 60 to 90 it will start doing this. Never after I'm braking. In fact hitting the brakes makes the squeal go away temporarily. Drove it today and didn't hear it at all. It's strange that it only pops up at certain times. Guess I'll pull the wheel again and take a look.
