Because I have not ever dealt with this issue, I am not certain as how to answer the question. However, if we are talking about an LS2 ('05/'06 GTO) setup, I would guess that the output from the Idle Air Control sensor is handled by the car's computer.

How long has this been an issue? If this phenomenon occurs only occasionally, what are the circumstances that are associated with it? That is, is there something in common to each occurance? Or, is the surging random, not able to be replicated? Have you recently had something done to your car? Does the surge occur when the engine has not warmed to its normal operating temperature?

If you are able to provide a few more details, there may be someone here who could provide you a solution to your dilemma.

it started happening 2 weeks after i got it. its a 2006 with 500 miles with an automatic. when the car is warm and you drive in slow traffic the idle drops to about 500rpm when your stopping , then it surges slightly up an down. you see it on the tach slightly and you feel it slightly. i really dont want to take it to the dealer if i can order the part and do it myself. thanks Ralph

I understand not wanting to take it to the dealership, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Besides you shouldn't have to spend your time and money correcting something that should not need correcting? Let the dealership worry about it.
