Center rubber strip on $1200 Michelins is wearing at 8000 miles even with exact recommended tire pressure. Due for 3rd set . Any Ideas?

Yes, excessive tire wear is almost ALWAYS a result of excessive friction. See below example (note the dots towards the end of 1st gear...rev limiter...then note 2nd gear in the distance:

If I recall correctly, that is Matt's house with the For Sale sign in front of it. His neighbors were running him out of town for lighting up his tires on the neihborhood streets. As it turns out, he got to stay in his house, but he had to get rid of his goat. :P

What PSI were you running,
What model Michelin?
Not to beat a dead horse, but why $300 per tire?

He paid $300 per tire because someone saw him comin a mile away. That's why. And the center strip is worn because HE'S DRIVING A 400 HP CAR. DUH. We got a real rocket scientist on our hands here folks.
