This is a big rumor running around right now....

It is known the Solstice likley will not keep it's name, and the below webpage seems worded as if the Firebird may be back.

Plus everytime I have ever mentioned the Firebird to anyone at Pontiac they have been very upbeat about the idea of Firebird coming back.

One thing is for sure...a new Firebird will not be a Camaro/GTO sibling.

I doubt the firebird will come back, let alone be a renamed solstice.

but there is gunna be a solstice. I dont think its right if its called a firebird. to many people would be upset, but exactly what percentage of the people buying the car is that? It might happen.

Pontiac is either one of the most revolutionary companies in the country or a glutton for punishment. Given the rash of emotion with the return of the GTO, imagine what will happen this is the return of the Firebird. The GTO has been slammed by some for not having enough design cues relating to the past versions. Now, the Firebird may be a two seat roadster?

I like the Solstice. I believe that this car will be good for Pontiac. I am not sure if calling this car a Firebird is the best idea. And what about Bob Lutz saying that the Firebird was not coming back for a while? Was that a curve ball from Lutz? This will be interesting to follow.

Hope that the Firebird turns out to be something more than that.
