Does anyone here run an AEM intake? Some say the metal soaks heat. Others say that is not the case, and that the air moves to fast in the tube to get heated.

What are you guys opinions?

What type of metal is it?

Let me just say that increased velocity on the air side will enhance the overall heat transfer coefficient. Generally speaking, the thermal conductivity for a metal is greater than that of the plastic used by such CAI's as the K&N Air Charger. What this means is that in theory, the inlet air should be heated to a greater extent in a metal intake tube than a plastic one. In any event, if heat soak is an issue, there is not much one can do with the stock IAT, which is integral to the MAF in the '05/'06 GTO...unless the IAT is relocated...like I have done. :D

On the backside of the K&N under hood barrier, much closer to the actual air filter and away from the radiator.
