I'm curious about what material the fuel(petrol) door is made of on the VE Commodore. It is plastic on our GTO's and flimsy plastic at that. I know this is a VERY minor issue, but I'd like to know if it's metal or plastic. Just curious. How about it Aussie members can you find out for me? :)

As far as I know, its metal here.
It might have been changed when they changed the fuel filler position, because youur fuel tanks are in a different place to ours (I believe yours are in front of the rear axle)
thats all I can think of...weight reduction wouldnt make sense lol.
Maybe its just a cost thing, because I know the fuel tank is changed but dunno if they changed the position of the actual filler
And here's something interesting but unrelated....
HSV E-series, derived from the VE Commodore, use plastic inserts where they've used smaller tail lights and moved them down from the bootlid
If you ever get next to a HSV E-series (which you probably wont) knock on the bit above the tail light and you'll find that its plastic LOL

Our fuel tanks are in the trunk, behind the back seat.
wait, nevermind. Just realized we're not talking about the GTO/Monaro here.

Yep, fuel tanks in the VE Commodore (AKA Pontiac G8) are now behind the back seat, in front of rear axle/diff, as per GTO. So I was wrong on that one. Shame on me :P
