Does anyone know where to get a replacement battery other than the dealership? I have checked Autozone and Advance Auto Parts, but they don't carry it yet. I live in Ohio and was wondering if anyone had a suggestions? Thanks for your time.

I just searched Autozone site and not available. I also checked out the Optima site and there is NONE showing also for the 2004 GTO. Looks like the stealerships have us over a barrel on this one. I'll continue the search. Let us know what you find out and how much the stealership wants for a replacement battery. Good luck.

Yeah it is dead already. I didn't shut the door all the way and then put a car cover on it. Therefore, everytime the wind blew it kicked on the dome light. Dead as a door nail the next time I went to drive it.

As for the stearlership, they are wanting $98 for one. Maybe, that isn't so bad. I will keep you updated if anything bad happens. Thanks for the reply orange!

just buy an electric battery charger, plug it in, problem solved.

Have you tried recharging it? There may still be life in those cells.

u may need to use a high current charger to get the battery to accept power as intended. often a cheap 10-20 amp charger wont get the battery over the intial hump( for lack of a better explaination) and many ppl write them off as unchargable

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions, but I have recharged it once. But the darn thing died on me again from sitting in the winter. I have checked the battery and it was dry. So I put some new fluid in it, but it still didn't take a charge. Unfortunately, I think this one is cashed. Thanks again for all your guys help!

Well, funny story (I guess). The fuel pump went out on my other car this morning, therefore I had to go and get a battery at the dealership. It really wasn't that bad. The total was around $101 for the battery. It installed in a snap. Man I love rear wheel drive cars (there is actually room to work on them.) So overall, it wasn't that bad. Dealership had the battery in stock, it was an easy install. I really can't complain. Thanks again for all your guys help!

These batteries don't last that long...the 04s should be changed. You might have to clean up a little corrosion.

To clarify some alternatives to the Optima or the AC Delco stock part, you can get a Duralast Gold "35-DLG" from Autozone, $90 (Item #115788). It has an 8 year pro-rated warranty and a 36-month free replacement. It fits well enough, a little tight by the fuse box, and have to squeeze it in to get the holding bracket back on the bottom of the battery. I just installed on my '05.

Yep, in fact it is what I will go with when mine craps out. 4+ years and 49K miles on the original battery. I have a feeling it is living on borrowed time.

You can always find out the battery size/type of battery from the dealer then go out to sears kragon auto zone pep boys or order one online or get an optima battery which is the best out in the market because they use a sealed battery no filling with water or the battery acid leaks.
