Theres talk, but I don't know why they would, GM has enough troubled brands as is.

Ok guys...here's what's going to happen....GM is going to by Daimler's US Chrysler division....then Toyota is going to buy GM...and liquidate the whole lot. Then we'll just have Toyota and Ford. ;-) You watch. It's going to happen.

Things like this seam to happen alot in the bussiness world. I remember about 5 years ago united airlines was bidding to buy out us air. That never happened then about 6 months later UAL went into bankruptcy . I beleive they have since come out of bankruptcy. Look at K mart they used bankruptcy to close unprofitable stores and when they came out they bought sears. It seams to me that bankruptcy is a gaint loop hole that these companies are useing to gain profitability. As a matter of fact how long do you suppose a company could stay in bussiness hemoraging the money that gm and all these big companies say they are. Its all smoke and mirrors. It wouldnt surprise me to see gm try to buy chrysler but I dont see it happening.
As far as toyota buying either why would they they dont need to eliminate the compition because america is such an easy market they can sell anything with a toyota label on it. They will be #1 in the next 10 years anyways.

US Chrysler & GM will work on a shared vehicle technology, more like an alliance a la Renault and Nissan, et al.
