: Where are the spoilers?
scottknight 10-29-2003, 12:24 PM I noticed something about all the pics of the GTOs getting on the boat. They don't have spoilers mounted. What is up with that? Cannot tell if there are mounting holes in the deck lid (OK, it is still a boot until they arrive on our shore...) under the plastic wrap.

edge929 10-29-2003, 12:27 PM I saw that too. Personally I like the GTO without the spoiler like you. If you eventually find a way to get rid of it without the **** holes, by all means please let me know!
I think they look sleek as hell without it and besides, I've always thought of spoilers as "wannabe" fast cars. They're just for looks on 99% of cars, unless you plan on going 120+ mph everywhere you go, then they might actually do something.
Tails 10-29-2003, 12:57 PM I assume those white squares are where you can velcro them on and off.
:D :D :D :D
edsmaroonz 10-29-2003, 01:13 PM hey its only super glued on
MILLPOND 10-29-2003, 02:04 PM What is that yellow piece that is sticking out from under the back bumper?
Is it used for holding the car down during shipping?
Either way..I hope it comes off.
mmciau 10-29-2003, 02:42 PM Millpond,
Yes a tie down
Mike
humbler 10-29-2003, 03:02 PM Oh I thought that was the tab you pull off of toys so the batteries work!! Only us with kids will understand that one...
MILLPOND 10-29-2003, 03:25 PM Good! I was worried it was the handle to the string you pull to
windup the car!!! :D
jon_we4 10-29-2003, 04:53 PM in AUS isnt the spoiler on the monaro's a dealers installed option only?
Gaijin 10-30-2003, 05:04 AM I wish there was a spoiler delete option.
Rocket 10-30-2003, 09:20 PM I love the look with NO spoiler. I'm gonna tell my dealer to let the spoiler off unless the *******s drilled holes in my beautiful sheet metal!
Davbo 10-30-2003, 09:24 PM I'm sure the holes are already there Rocket.

Yes. In AUS, the spoiler is an option on the Monaro.
Howie 10-31-2003, 11:20 AM It may be a dealer installed item. I know when we get Yukons and some Denalis in at our dealership the side steps are usually in a box inside the vehicle. This might be the story with the GTO's spoiler, now we just need to know about the decklid being predrilled or not.
Davbo 10-31-2003, 01:07 PM I think it must be pre-drilled. If not, what are those two pieces of tape on the trunk lid in the pictures of the GTOs being loaded on the ship?
scottknight 10-31-2003, 01:23 PM You can bet that the holes are already there, albeit not drilled per se (whey would be punched out during manufacturing). Leaving a drilling operation up to a dealership just invites warranty issues with fitment and corrosion.
I am thinking maybe a good option is a couple of 1/3 wave K-40 whips with custom brackets that will fit the holes :afro: :knightrider:
OK, maybe not, but I am seriously considering the idea of just getting a handful of properly painted plugs that will be a lot more discreet than that riceboy wing...
Tails 10-31-2003, 01:25 PM I think they would provide an adequate base for some JATO.

scottknight 10-31-2003, 02:22 PM Hey, where do you think you are...an Impala SS forum? :laughbounce:
Goat Soldier 11-02-2003, 10:12 PM Of course, the problem with deleting the spoiler (which i fully intend to do) is that you lose the third brake light. Can anybody see one in the back window?
cvp33 11-02-2003, 10:19 PM Yes. This was discussed earlier. The 3rd brake light is repeated in the rear window.

The spot for the light is definitely in the back window but I would bet that it is not functional. My guess is that you'd probably have to get a bulb and maybe do some wiring.
Davbo 11-02-2003, 10:21 PM Okay, cvp, you did it to me this time. I guess we're just so **** helpful we can't not answer peoples questions. :P
Gaijin 11-03-2003, 03:31 AM The more that I look at the spoiler, the more I think that it should not be on the car. It just looks so much cleaner without it.
