Anyone see the article in motor trend ( i really need to stop reading that rag at the oil change place) about the new mustang they say itll be rated at 540 hp once shellby has thier way with it. Then if you like and who wouldnt. you can send it to shellby and they will do the sidewinder upgrade for 10k more and they say the power will reach over 600hp ( it even said way more). Say what you will about ford but they really know how to get attention with thier high end outsourced cars. These cars though few in number and high in price will be the standard with which mustang will be tested at against the competion . I have to wonder if this car will actually come to be with gas prices spiking . when do the buyers for these cars dry up $4,$5 a gal. or higher?

Yes read that it's the GT500 KR stock with 540hp has some cool things on it but the price.... Wow you could get a Z06 not say it's a ford and no matter how fast it is it's still a mustang. As for the gas I look at it as a love affair if gas or when gas gets that high I will still drive my Goat and so will many others with high per cars that drink up the gas, you know you will do the same. LOL

I wonder what they'll be asking for them, and how much dealer mark-up is gonna be.........

i hear its going to be a very limited production of around 1k . i dont know what the cost will be but those will be collector cars hell the saleens mustangs still sell for quite a bit. I hate to say it but they tend to hold thier values better than the gto does. Yet time will tell.
I know I dont mind paying for the gas but if gas prices get too high it will kill performance vehicles as we currently know them however cars like the tesla roadster will be the next big thing.

Man look how much they pay overseas and it will never get that high, ok I think it is going for 80 or 80k the stang.

got that right, instead of investing to push more power of the block they should shave some fat off that car, like maybe use the aluminum 5.4 block they had going in the ford gt's. of course you know ford doesn't do favors like that to their customers

i would say that this is more of a shelby product than a ford product. we all know stangs are weak but once completely retooled by shelby the car is very nice. The z06 is a great bargain for what you get but in 20 years which will be worth more? id say the stang due to the ultrararity of the vehicle.Id still rather have the vette though.

and look what they drive overseas. they dont run big gas guzzling vehicles like we do.

True that but those people into cars put out some big power and get low fuel econ, just check Ruff, Dinan, and AMG just to name a small group, those guys are just as crazy as us, hell the vet is a big deal over on that side. They also love the V8 as much as the 12.

Weak? In their defense, when Ford rates there cars at around 400hp at least they perform. GM's 05-06 goats are barley faster than the 300hp mustangs. This is coming from someone who has owned a 2005. My goat was a very nice high quality car, but the engine was nothing but bragging rights to say I had a 400hp car. On the strip it could not hold its own for being a 400hp car. A stock 03 cobra with equally matched drivers would beat and 05-06 goat any day of the week.

no ****. a "stock" svt cobra in 03 runs a 12.9 . Which btw is the same as the 500hp gt500.hmm how about that for bragging rights. it cost more in 03 than a gto does now. im talking about your standard gt (260hp)which is no comparision . on the strip a gto does fine 13.0 is plenty fast . Also quite frankly a svt is barely stock anyways being completely redone by thier in house team.

It needs that much power to have a fighting chance.

The other night we were watching a Cobra that was running nitrous and it was barely able to break into the 12's. I guess I should not say anything about drag racing considering my poor ET.

The GTO is still one of the best bangs(all 400 of them, sorry I was braggin) for your bucks.:D
