So there I am, minding my own business (of course), as the point man of a three goat flying formation, who were on their way to the drag strip to beat up on Mustangs and 350Z's (which we did easily). As I peered in into my side view mirror, I see a Trans Am that looks to be about even with the goat in the rear of the Apache single-file formation. Well, the Trans Am accelerates and passes both goats behind me to come in line with the Punisher Goat. I look over at the TA Pilot and give him a thumbs up because he has a sweet ride and it is obvious that a lot of time and effort has been put into his ride. I mean...the way he came up on me, it was evident that he was no longer stock and that he was sporting much more than a Flowmaster muffler. I was truly impressed with the TA's rate of acceleration at highway speeds.
So there we are going down the interstate, pacing each other at 80 MPH or so. I did not want to make the jump first because I did not want some dude going to his TA forums to complain that he was not ready, or crying about how I had taken advantage of him. Anyhow, it was not long before the TA pilot tried to jump on me, and when he did, he got about a quarter of a fender on me...just because it takes time to react (Did I mention how fast this TA was?). At the aforementioned speed, I had already dropped into 4th-gear. When the TA jumped, I nailed the loud pedal and eased right next to him by 95 MPH. After that I was pulling on him quite convincingly.
To prolong this story just a bit more, because of the slower traffic in front of us...and the fact that we were catching up to this traffic quickly, I let off the gas after I was sure that he knew that he had been owned. Well, he passes me after I began to apply my brakes, and then he changed into my lane ahead of me. Once we had cleared the slow moving traffic, I came up beside him on his left, at which time he gave me a thumbs up and inquired, via sign language, whether or not I was sporting a 6-speed manual, to which I gave him an affirmative. Then he gets a look on his face that was read, "Oh...that is why you beat me. I have an automatic. Otherwise, I think that the race would have been closer".
The way that I figure it, "Beware of the Punisher Goat". ;)

P.S. No traction issue here. :p
