Is that their new chase car? A few years ago I read about a Mustang LX Police pursuit that they used in that role.

Yes now they use a GTO.

They evidently know their performance cars!
It'd be cool if they put on some specific markings.
On trips to Marysville, I had the change to see both the SR-71s and U-2Rs take off from Beale. SR-71s were awesome and U-2s incredible with their near verticle climbs after take off.

Hell yes I do work on the base and have seen some cool things. It's amazing how fast the U2 is gone after take off.

SR-71 baby, still the fastest de-classified piloted jet plane out there.

But it's top speed is still classified...... I know it's well over the 3.2 mark that's listed.

Speaking of the SR-71, here's a cool pic:

The light bar makes me cringe.

Wonder if they want to swap the scooped hood for my flat hood. It would be more aerodynamic. ;)

not bad, 2280 mph..... :-)

I've heard uncomfirmed reports from trusted sources that back in the Libya days one of the crews on egress hit Mach 3.7, they said they still had more to go, but didn't need to use it cause they were out of the area to fast!

Could you possibly imagine the rush! What a ride that would be. Makes you wonder, I mean look how long ago it was made. Just imagine what they may have now and how FAST it is! They did retire the Blackbird. Why? Really?;)

They retired it, then suddenly unretired them......then retired them again....

why....

Aurora.

They had a hickup with the Aurora and needed to bring the Blackbird back online for a while until the bugs were fixed.

Now the SR's sit and collect dust again....

Kelly Johnson or someone that was put in charge? Kelly Johnson started the Skunk Works to built the U2.
