Computer Assisted Gear Selector - It's the skip shift feature on manual transmissions that makes you go from 1st to 4th gear if you don't get the rpms up high enough. It's a sneaky way to improve the gas mileage rating of a car......but it obviously sucks.

It's actually not that bad. When you're driving hard it's not there at all. When you're plodding along it guides the shifter into the higher gear blocking the 1 to 2 shift. Given the torque of the GTO I don't think it'll bother me at all. In fact with the higher 1st gear ratio and additional torque, 2nd gear launches are not out of the question.

That is completely BS. I will hate the car it the stupoid computer tries to tell me how to shift it. I Opted for the Manual, So I could shift it as I chose. Now some retard engineer decides he knows when it needs to be shifted for me? (I don'ty think so!) :zap: :zap:

I night pass on my GTO if it truely is set up that way. I'd gladly drive a Stang if thats how the tranny is gonna be!
That just ruined my week! :microwave:

Isn't this an EPA REQUIREMENT?

It's been around for years and is not hard to disable if you so choose.

It's not EPA required, it is a byproduct of manufacturers having to meet CAFE standards or pay huge penalties. "We're the government and we're here to tell you what kind of car you should buy."

I wouldn't let CAGS be the reason I do or don't buy a given car. Especially when you can disable for about $1.58 give or take.

Davbo,

Sometimes you frighten me. Posting 2 minutes before me on same topic. This has happened on more than one occasion. Knock it off. :D :P

You know, I was thinking that with the torque, you could probably about always drive in 2nd in traffic.

**** I am sure glad that someone came up with a way to eliminate that stupid feature. I will have the resistor on hand before the car arrives. :woot:

What a relief!
