: trying to workout a solution to the rear wing ?

the rear wing, the rear wing, some may like it and thats great !!!

but a lot don't and looking at the pics from GM media site , it looks like the holes have been drilled, and a pain in the ass to fill in and respray.

now im an aussie and don't have this problem , but i can imagine how frustrating it would be if i was waiting for my GTO and it had a rear wing and nothing i could do about it :zap:

then i got to thinking, "wait a second how about the aluminum thin strip wing that was on the HRT427 , that looks very subtle and dare i say nice !!!!, and it wouldn't be too hard to fabricate a piece of aluminum and copy it ???" :woot:

what do you think ?

here i will get some pics up -

i don't know how easy it would be to do, and you could keep the original wing if you ever decided to sell it.

No offense, but I think the wing we are getting is better than that. I think it breaks the clean trunk line up more than the bigger one.

Now, as far as your question, I'm not a fabricator, but I would think that would be fairly easy to do.

i don't know , looking at it again , i think the stock holes are too far in to mount an alloy strip - back to the drawing board..

how about something flat , like the hsv wing?

That doesn't look to bad! Not quite my taste though. I really haven't made up my mind on the spoiler thing but I'm leaning towards removing it. I sure do like the way the exhaust is done! I hope someone comes up with a simple economical way to do that on the GTO! It looks like a panel could be added over top without to much trouble.

Those blacked-out taillights are alot nicer then the stock GTO lenses. Are they just covers? Does HSV sell them outright?

I like that strip...paint it and we're in business...I bet some aftermarket company will make a small spoiler like that...wouldn't be that hard.

And yes, those black out lenses are very nice. Much better than the stock.

That wing is ok, but it would have to be painted to match the car. Otherwise it looks like something bought at Pep Boys or Advanced Auto. <_<

I also don't think this spoiler would aleviate the pre-drilled hole issue.

Couldn't a Monaro trunk be purchased from Holden and installed aftermarket? Probably not cost effective though.

A small spoiler that followed the lines of the deck lid and was a direct bolt on would be nice. Then we just color match and done. I don't like the aluminum look. A little too nascar-esque for me. :D

I have seen nothing that looks good. The car looks much better with no wing at all. Leave the wing for the Judge package just because of the fact the original Judges had one. Every wing I have seen interupts the sleek smooth lines of the car. Am I alone on this?

We should be getting those dual exhausts - out both sides like they oughtta be!

I like the clean look without the spoiler most, but that strip type would be ok...like the spoiler on the new 04 Nissan Maxima.

The yellow car is too f-body for me (no offense to f-body people intended).
