well guys i have to get this off my chest. yesterday i had a engine check light come on the GTO, and so i left work early today to go to the dealership as i'm on spring break and the place is 12 miles away. as i'm driving i noticed the wheel keeps pulling a little to the left, as i get to the dealership long and behold i got a flat going on the rear driver side tire. what is making go into a rant was the guy who set up my repairs, i told him i got the engine light and when i noticed the tire he glanced at it and thought nothing of it. i had to ask him if they could patch for me and i would pay the cost if it didn't cover the warranty (i mean cmon i'm at a garage its just convient to get it fixed now then later). the guy says if the nail is the center they will plug it up for me and so i felt a little better, i take a 30 min walk and come back and the car is done. it was some other error with the evaporator solenoid again, so i get the car back washed and i asked the guy how'd it go with the tire. he tells me they didn't do anything cause all they do is plug the leaks, which confuses me cause i don't see what is so different of that method to any other way of plugging a hole. IMO i think those guys were too lazy to pull the nail out and patch it. i look at him with the "you expect me to drive back to my town with a deflating tire on a busy freeway?" he tells me it be ok and just to take it to a tire shop when i get the chance. they least they did for me was fill the air back up, he walks away and i go up to him and ask "so is there a shop around here i can take it to get it patched?" oh yea theres like two up the street, i can't believe he didn't bother to suggest that in the first place or believe that i was a local like 2-3 blocks away that running on a deflated tire is alright. when they call me to ask how was the service, i'm going to tell them they should have more thought with those coming in with flats and at least suggest the closest place to patch them as its never safe to drive on one

sigh

What a bunch of BS. What are some of these repair shops thinking? If they think they can treat people that way, that your going to come back and trust them with your car? NOT! Give them a proper write-up, when GM sends out the survey, and find a different dealership to go to.
I've been fortunate, the dealership I go to have been a great bunch of people to work with.

i completely agree with you, i really have no idea what is it their procedure on fixing a leak is different from any other shop. i got the guys name on the statement, and when they call or send me the survey i'm going to point that out to them. everything was fine but this guys attitude was whacked, no dealership should send any new/used car they fixed with a flat

You should mail him a box of your own ****. That's what I'd do anyway.

I think mailing crap in a box is a federal offense actually . Turd would be considered a hazardous bodily waste and mailing it could be condsidered an act of terrorism by the state dept..

LMFAO! Yeah...I could see that. Many a folk have experienced sheer terror...when mistakenly walking into a bathroom where I recently dropped a bomb.

well heres an update: i called up the guy who runs the service department, told him the story, greatly started saying sorry and kissing my @$$ and told me that the dealership prefers to only patch low profile tires and plug them. saying they have had a history of bad luck of the plug type failing on low profiles. i kinda doubt that as i already have two other tires with plugs for over a year and a half with no problems, also they guy who could have done either one was not there and seems the really only got one tire guy on their team to depend on

Gotta watch out when mailing turds. The FBI has a special forensics unit that can identify you based on the mailed turd. Yeah, there is a national database to make the identification of the origin of the fecal matter much easier. ;)

On a more serious note, Andy, ANYone that has done ANY tire work knows that using a hot patch is THE only way to properly fix a tire, period. I would never recommend anyone use a plug. But, to each his own I reckon.
