: After you pick up your new GTO, what do you do?
geekoid 11-08-2003, 03:47 PM This is for those of you waiting for your new GTO or those who will be buying a GTO in the future. After you get the keys, start it up, and smoke your way out of the dealer lot, what is the first thing that you are going to do?
Davbo 11-08-2003, 03:50 PM I'm going to show it off then drive all over town! :D
MILLPOND 11-08-2003, 03:57 PM I am going to try like hell not the smoke the tires leaving the Dealer lot. Oh hell, who I am kidding.....
Most of the guys I know want me to call them when I leave the Dealership so they can meet me at my house.
Howie 11-08-2003, 04:07 PM I'll be taking mine to the drag to get some "unmodified" times, afterwards the real fun begins!! B)
impulsive 11-08-2003, 04:53 PM I will be removing my dealers advertising. Even though I told them not to put it on. They always do.
cvp33 11-08-2003, 07:01 PM I have a lot of friends following my GTO saga with me. Their as excited as I am and can't wait to see it. It will be a busy afternoon for me. I've saved a "personal day" just for that. :woot:
Goat Soldier 11-08-2003, 07:36 PM After a couple trips down the 1320 in stock form, I'm dropping mine off at MTI. (gots me some plans)
1966_GTO_ 11-08-2003, 09:37 PM I know if I was getting one I'd be out driving the whole day. $250,000 exotics are the cars you can just sit and look at and then drive. The GTO is an all-time driver, and that's what I'd be doing with it...
Tails 11-09-2003, 01:00 AM I've got the first 500 miles or so mapped out. Starting at my sister's and then up north to several friends and then over to my folks and then hit the freeway and then cruise over by the local track and then whatever after that.
I will also be closely watching what Howie does. He has a list of stuff and it looks like he will be keeping close track of what works good and what works not as good. I am really interested in those pipes!!
:laughbounce: :laughbounce: :laughbounce: :laughbounce:
DANSLS1 11-09-2003, 04:47 AM Mine's drive it home - then garage it for the winter. The only good / bad thing is that the drive home is about 550 miles. I'm sure I'll have fun varying the rpm's all that way on the highway :D
Gaijin 11-09-2003, 03:23 PM How about all of the above? :)
humbler 11-10-2003, 06:31 AM Take your Good Friend at NewAge for a ride!
4th gto 11-10-2003, 07:04 AM When I get mine home, I'll treat it to a complete Zaino treatment and give it several coats of polish. Then I'll listen to it run and then some coats! :D :D

I've explained to my dealer repeatedly, no dealer advertising stickers. If you want to put a license plate frame, thats fine. If the car does have dealer stickers, it will be refused. I've had the request noted on the contract.
GottaGoat 11-13-2003, 07:55 AM There will be NO smoke shows until at 500 miles are on the clock. Then it's time to go hunting for victims :D
Joe
I'll be stang hunting. I've seen how the Corvettes are treated out of the factory so no break in's are required.
<if you are wondering> as soon as a C5 is rolled off the line, it is put into a test that brings the car to WOT for 10-15 seconds 3 or 4 times, then brought out back and opened up in the 1/4 mile.
Decromin 11-13-2003, 03:53 PM I'm dissapointed that there is no "Drop a huge burnout in front of the dealer" option :)
Instead of a huge burnout in front of the dealership I suggest
one in dealership parking lot. :D
If I were bringing one home.
I would wash it.
Then put on a coat of Mother's Sealer/Glaze.
Take that off.
Then a coat of Mother's Carnuba Wax.
After that I would never let the car be without wax.
That will protect the finish from getting scratched, contaminated or damaged
by bird poop.
It would be garaged and the oil changed every 3000 miles with dino, or 5000 miles with synthetic.
Or changed twice a year. Whichever comes first.
Oh yeah,
And Lexol Leather Care for the seats EVERY 3 months!
Twice a year or 3000 miles, dude Holdens are made to be driven. I'd have to change my oil once a month if I was on your schedule.
mothers? cmon, thats childs play.
www.zainobros.com
you wont regret it
zap,
It sure as heck won't be my daily driver.
So oil changes would be less frequent.
I have a 205,000 mile '87 IROC and a '95 Lexus I just bought on ebay.
I would keep both of them to hold down the miles on any GTO i buy.
At the risk of turning this into a zaino thread.
it is great stuff, clarity, depth, etc.
But it doesn't last as long or provide the protection
that good old fashioned carnuba does.
to each his own. I have zaino on my daily driver, its been 3 months since I last zainoed her. still shines after one wash a week. (still beads up too)
blackgoat 11-14-2003, 10:28 PM I envy all you guys who are buying the new GTO. Up here in Canada can't buy the new goat because are federal govenment requries all cars meet the five mile an hour bumper law. this sucks !
Oh well maybe next year
SuprFun 11-15-2003, 09:37 AM Mine will go from the dealership to home (a total of about 5 miles) and be parked next to my 98 GTP (10,500 miles) for winter storage. It won't see the road again until its been completly detailed inside and out under the hood and the undercarrige. It will be completly clayed after which it will get many coats of Zaino. The Autopia website is a great site for information on detailing.

When summer arrives here I'll put the insurance back on and the fun will begin! :woot:
