Is anyone else concerned about having their car "test driven" before taking delivery. I have asked my dealer not to. He said they would not.. ha ha
The thought bothers me even though I'm going to lay rubber pronto.

Mine better not have more than 7 miles on the odometer or :frankie:
A workshop apprentice once got a speeding ticket in my '69 Monaro 327 GTS when it was in for service

I think the mileage on the odometer is documented at some point before it gets to the dealer. I will insist on seeing that and comparing. Fortunately, mine will be the second to arrive not the first, and I will be there to see it come off the truck if I can. I'm more concerned with my dealer putting one of their badges on my car and installing a front license plate holder. Before I hassle them about that I need to make sure they sell their first GTO (to my friend) at the agreed-upon MSRP and don't try the dealer add-on routine. I don't want to insult them before the price is solid (I NEVER trust car dealers).

I'm guessing that the 'on the truck' 'off the truck' 'on the boat' 'off the boat' 'on the train' 'off the train' 'on the truck' 'off the truck' mileage will beat 7. Isn't the law less than 100 to allow it to be sold as new allowing for travel, etc?

Seven was a guess. You might be right about the on-off stuff adding up to more than that, however, if less than 100 can be a new car - well now I'm really worried. As we all know the first 100 miles can be critical for an engines break-in. If the salesmen are out 'trashing' my new toy...maybe I better camp out at the dealers!!!

Well, I know from working at a Dealership some time ago, the prep person has to test drive the car. If I remember right he has to put 10 miles on the car. It is part of the dealer prep and is something that has to be done. I was told if I was there when it was delivered I could go drive with the prep person.
My Dealer advised me they would not put any dealer badges on the car. He said they would never put any badges on an advanced order car like this one. He said after prep, the car was going to be place inside the building on display until I can pick it up. Which means depending on weather it make be there for a day or two. I am hoping the weather will be nice and I can be there when it rolls off the truck!

If I actually go with the GTO, I sure as heck hope not. Something tells me that everyone atthe dealer wants to though.

I made my dealer sign something saying my gto will be sold to me at sticker price. I also managed a refundable down payment..I am also worried about them test driving my car, so i did ask to be there when it got in. That way i can check the mileage. It really isn't in there best interest to go around driving them. Man I am excited it will be here soon..end of this month perhaps. I got the torrid red with the red on black interior..anyone think this is to much red?

When I was young I used to prep new cars. Pontiacs were my favs even then (think 66 GTO). Ofcource I NEVER "trashed" a new car. :woot: :woot: :woot:
I think someone will get back at me now!
I don't always get what I want, I don't always get what I need. As long as I don't get what I deserve. :D
