It does depend on the area you are moving to. For example California has stricter vehicle laws. Washington makes you pay a tax based on the price of the vehicle etc. There are importers in each area that can help with the specifics.

I'm afraid you won't be able to bring it unless its over 25 years old. All vehicles being registered in the United States for driving on public roads have to meet federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, plus any state regulations, such as the stricter smog laws that California has. This means they should be left hand drive, but can depend on state laws. It also means that their fuel system has to be changed, all lighting has to be DOT approved and a few other things. The only way you could bring it would be as a show car, which in most state will require special licensing or they won't license it at all (meaning it can't be driven on a "public street or road", only private, such as unloading it from a trailer on private property to drive it into a show arena).

The best thing to do is talk to the people at Motorex (www.motorex.net). They are in the business of bringing Nissan Skylines to the US and modifying them to meet DOT and EPA certifications. This also gives the vehicle a valid US title, which is the biggest thing you need so you can register and license your vehicle. They might know of another company that can help you with your Holden. I don't think its going to be cheap, but it would be nice to have the only one in town!

Another source might be www.madmaxcars.com. They import older Fords and Holdens from Australia and might be able to provide some info on who you could contact to import your Holden.

Cosmos Purple is what it is called on the GTO. Don't know if it is a name change or actual color difference. It is a very very dark purple though.
