: New GTO at Aus USA Nats
AusFiero 11-11-2003, 05:53 AM Last Saturday we had the USA nats in Sydney Australia, Sponsored by Ponti-World Australia, camaro-firebird.org, my own business the fieroshop.com.au and many other major supporters. Dave Clee of Ponti-World arranged a new GTO to be there for the weekend as well as a Chevy Lumina Saudi Arabian Police car. These are actually rebadged Commodores sold to the Saudi's.
The local media got pissed off that they couldn't get hold of a GTO for testing or photographs so unfortunately the GTO was only present at the event Saturday before Holden had to pull it to stop the whining press.
Here are some pics of it. Unfortunately I didn't get there until Sunday so I missed the car and a chance to get some good shots.
There are more pictures of the event here (http://www.fieroshop.com.au/gallery//album.cgi?album=US%20Nats%202003). But no more of the GTO.

No wing on it?
From what I have seen and heard around the traps none are leaving here with wings. Maybe they are getting fitted at that end.
1966_GTO_ 11-11-2003, 06:41 PM No spoilers on the cars until they get to their destination. Dealer installation. But look how much better the car looks without it... :woot:

It's funny you should say that because I was actually thinking it looked a little stark in the rear without the wing. This is the first time that I have felt this way. Previously, I have been a firm supporter of the "No Wing" camp. However, in these pictures at least, the wing is starting to grow on me........go figure.
Freud 11-11-2003, 06:54 PM So tell me about your wing envy.......
:knightrider:
Davbo 11-11-2003, 07:33 PM I don't know Freud..........I feel like a fish out of water. I'm flip floppin' on the spoiler almost as much as Scott Knight was on the axle ratio. :P
kbaba 11-11-2003, 09:17 PM Sometimes a spoiler is just a spoiler...
scottknight 11-11-2003, 09:25 PM I tell you what, if I keep seeing many more of these blue cars, I am going to need some of Freud's help myself. As a bonafide blue car hater, I am really feeling torn about how good this one actually looks. Won't be long before the voices start telling me that it is OK to buy a blue car. :frankie:
What's that? My jacket is ready? Wow, nice room...did you upholster the walls just for me? I like pie. :zippy:
cvp33 11-11-2003, 09:38 PM I noticed on the pix that the brake rotors are covered and the wing's not installed. Could this be a customer's car plucked from shipping to be used for a car show? Nothing worse than the thought of your $33,000 car being drooled on.
CM_LS1 11-11-2003, 09:43 PM yeah i know...
looking through that car , i noticed a tag on it that read - "GMKQOC"
whatever that means ?

cvp33 11-11-2003, 09:50 PM Hmmm. GMKQOC? **** that sounds familiar. GM...K......
Wait a minute! Son of a &%#@*/!
I do believe I hate you CM_LS1.
 :D :P
Tails 11-11-2003, 09:59 PM Now that was an enjoyable zinger...
:laughbounce: :laughbounce: :laughbounce: :laughbounce:
Goat Soldier 11-11-2003, 10:27 PM Oh, now I'm SURE the wing's GOT TO GO!! Way better looking without IMHO.
Gaijin 11-12-2003, 02:31 PM I still agree...wingless on the GTO is better.
Tails 11-12-2003, 02:43 PM I see that we call it a wing and we call it a spoiler. Those are actually two different things. In aerodynamic terms a spoiler interfers with airflow on a lfting body (spoils the airflow) causing it to have a greater downward force. A wing is a lifting body that would create an upward force but it can also be configured to add a downward force by pointing it down in the front. I bet dollars to doughnuts that the creation on the back of the GTO does neither. I don't mind the looks so much but I know that when I clean, dry and wax my wife's Impala that low profile wing is a real pain in the butt.

Davbo 11-12-2003, 02:58 PM Wow Tails! Edumucating us on aircraft terms.....does that mean that today's time on the "boards" can be considered work time? :P
Tails 11-12-2003, 03:08 PM Yes I saw my opportunity and took it. Now I can justify (at least in my own mind) that I was just working.....

carnivore80 11-12-2003, 03:37 PM Purchase number 1: 2005 GTO
Purchase number 2: New rims for 2005 GTO
Anybody have any word on SLP's appearance package? I'm eager to see how they will modify it.
Nocturn 11-12-2003, 05:15 PM yeah its a simple formula
take current GTO + crappy effects and Crappy parts = crappier GTO with crappy SLP badges.
Tails 11-12-2003, 06:18 PM So Nocturn, how do you actually feel about SLP??
