Hey guys....i need some help. Has anyone experienced a annoying ticking or tapping sound in the dash area behind the speedo cluster?? I recenty traded a 05 GTO for an 06 and my 05 had it too but not as constant as my 06. I can't seem to narrow it down to anything obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Does it sound like two pieces bumping together (like when going over bumps)?

Or does it just happen at random times, like when on smooth pavement or stopped even?

no it only happens when im in motion. It doesnt sound like anything rubbing together its just a ticking sound that is not constant. its right around the steering column somewhere i just cant seem to find it.

Mine does it to. Mine has something in the steering column. I noticed if I changed or hold down on the steering wheel, it went away. Other than that you have to get inside it, I believe I read somewhere someone was able to remove or slip in some insulation. I just live with it.

LOL... Mine does it as well. It's been driving me nuts. Even more so after my sound deadening. Although it didn't always do it. At least I don't think so.

Just a note, when the weather gets cold, the materials in the interior tend to shrink. What was once expanded and warmer in the summer has now shrunk and may vibrate if it doesn't contact another piece. I have a couple of little buzzes/vibrations that tend to pop up in the winter then go away in the summer when it warms up. Press around and see if you can find where it vibrates. You can always wedge a small piece of something into a gap to fix the noise temporarily. Of course I've got a lot more vibrations now with hi flow cats and LM1 exhaust. The header no cat guys probably can't even tell if they have any sqeaks and rattles anymore. :)

I always thought was coming from the fuse area. However yesterday I pushed against the clear plastic cover over the speedo and it went away. I'll try it a few more times just to make sure and then fix it!
Maybe it was those "friggin' gremlins" at the factory.

i know its not coming from the plastic on the cluster its more towards the steering column. And it gets more constant as the car interior gets warmer so its not just the cold weather doing it.
