: Brake pads.

Just turned 39,000 on the same pads and I'm noticing some noise that makes me want to make it go away.
So should I do this myself? If I did do, has anyone done a pad replacement themselves? Any special tools I'll need to get?
Thanks for the help.

Ya, these brakes are easy - especially since we have all 4 disc. The only thing I thought was odd about these brakes was that they slide out of the caliper assembly, as opposed to just laying in there. But, I assume that is because they are high performance. I picked up a set of slotted and drilled rotors and put some ceramic pads on and I have great stopping power. All you should need is a set of sockets and a mallet to break them loose. Might want some disc quiet too.

Also, I used this time to paint my calipers red. Cheap can of caliper paint makes a big difference if you have the 2 hours to let them dry.

Put Corvette C5 pads on, they fit perfectly and don't have all the gaps GTO pads do.

Brakes were not difficult at all. If your rotors have been on for a while, they can be pretty stubborn to come off sometimes. I think the GTO is one of the easiest vehicles Ive worked on in general.
