: Should we wait
goatfarmer 11-16-2003, 09:41 AM To all of us who have ordered the new GTO, would we better off waiting for the following years? I am truly excited about getting my new car but with all the new info comming out on the 05's etc..and I am still up in the air as far as styling, I'm wondering if it would be best to wait. I'm hoping to get some input from you all. The pro's and con's etc
cvp33 11-16-2003, 11:16 AM I would've liked a sunroof.
I would've liked heated seats.
I would've liked an 18" wheel option.
I would've liked side air bags.
I would've liked XM radio.
I would've liked a dual zone climate control system.
But the fact is the GTO has EVERYTHING I need. And I can't wait for 2005.
MILLPOND 11-16-2003, 11:44 AM What if you wait until 2005 and all the talk about what they are going to up into this car turn out to be just that......TALK.
What if the 2005 is no different than the 2004?
Car companies are always talking about what the next year is going to bring......lets face it.......very rarely does the next year live up to all the TALK.
Just my thoughts.
DANSLS1 11-16-2003, 02:32 PM What if you wait and they decide to not even sell the GTO in 2005?
Tails 11-16-2003, 02:52 PM If nothing else the 2004 will be a collector's item. Also if they add a bunch of stuff for '05 will they raise the price? I bet they raise the price anyway. GM is not dumb. They have been looking at ebay.
:laughbounce: :laughbounce: :laughbounce: :laughbounce:
Nocturn 11-16-2003, 04:12 PM Add on all that and you get a bigger price and alot more weight. Which will slow it down even more so and make more people unhappy.
chotton 11-16-2003, 05:29 PM If you like the 2005 better than sell the '04 an dbuy a new one.
COOL GTO 11-16-2003, 05:42 PM I would wait...GM rushed the car to market!! What if - for instance - The advertised 350HP is "over-rated"??? Than you would have a car that NO ONE wants much less next years version...
cvp33 11-16-2003, 06:00 PM Cool,
Trust me. This ain't no Mazda, Infiniti or Ford, it's got the ponies. Why is your glass always have empty? Just an observation.
Peace. B)

you forgot one -
I would've liked a $40K+ price tag ?
COOL GTO 11-16-2003, 06:58 PM Yes..I am "half empty"... sorry about that...you see it is a sort of a Cognative Dissonance in reverse...I did N O T put my order in N O W...but...what if I should have??? The only way to rationalize is to say to myself...I made the right decision to "wait"...I could be right or I could be wrong...HHHMMMMM...
chotton 11-16-2003, 07:08 PM This car was not rushed to market. It has been in productin for a couple of years now. All that was done was move the steering wheel to the left side, move th fuel tank to US spec and put a Pontiac front fascia on it.
Speedfreak 11-16-2003, 07:08 PM Should I get a 2004 or wait? HUMMMMM, if I buy a 2004 I can enjoy it a year before the 2005s come out. :D
cjlannoy 11-16-2003, 11:25 PM I feel that you definately "should" wait, however, that being said, I could not wait and I WILL be the first person in my area to own a new GTO. If I had waited for the '05 I probably would have gotten better styling, more hp, bigger trunk, better (any) discount, and possibly more options. The key word above is probably. By ordering the '04 I'm guaranteed to get what I've been shown NOW and I like what I've seen and I have no patience. I know I'm a big help, do as I say, not as I do, and if you don't like the '05 you probably will be able to get an '04 slightly used. (especially if I really like the '05, you want black on black, m6?) B)
carnivore80 11-17-2003, 09:39 AM Chotton,
Yeah, everything GM did to it was just minor. Like giving it a new engine, transmission and exhaust. They probably could have engineered that in a few hours right? Also, the term "rushed to market" would imply that they only had so much time to change things, which is why it looks quite a bit like a Monaro still. Even Lutz himself said that they did it in ONLY 16 months, which is a very "rushed" pace.
monarogts 11-17-2003, 08:19 PM new engine and transmission? hmmm
