Just got a reply from a contact at Holden and he said that they are building between 90 to 100 GTO's a day and thought that this was their quota. He didn't say if they were on schedule or not but I assume they are!

There are 260 work days in a year.
Figure 3-4 weeks off for model changeover and Christmas.
That leaves about about 240 days to actually build the cars.
If they built 90 cars a day that would 21,600 a year.
100 cars a day would be 24,000.
They can clearly build more than the 18,000 they said they were.
Wonder how the UAW would feel about that.

And you know Pontiac would love to build more.
If they built 6,000 more it would bring Pontiac
$198,000,000 more sales!!!
And they need it badly.

I think they will not break the deal with the union and build more. That sales dollar is not accurate because the profit on this car can't be much. Say they are making $2,000 per car - that would give only 12,000,000 in sales. (That's probably high - I wonder if they are actually making any money on the car this year). Is that worth PO'ing almost every union worker they have?
